Apparently they've spent quite a bit of time on the fight engine! They've also added 'board-play' into the equation (basically shoving people off the puck when its up against the boards).

At last we will be able to take out our frustrations in a constructive way on the ice

Looking forward to this, hopefully family dramas(touch wood) will be kept to a minimum this year and not get in the way, was really enjoying this when we started the team.

I was the one stuck in the game after you quit 'cause the other team were 'cheating' (e.g scoring goals) lol

Yeah they have stopped those across the box goalie watches goals now. BTW it was cheating because you were guaranteed a goal every time. GLITCHERS

The video below describes how they intend to stop that goal being scored. I remember it was always guys with blonde hair and black eyes who did it.

Does anyone know when this is due out? I loved 09 even with the glitchers. Wasn't much kop at it but the feeling of getting a win more than made up for the previous 5 defeats

I believe it's September 15th in the US. I think it's supposed to be out in September in the UK too but I don't think there is a specific date yet.

I think most UK sites have it down for a 25 September release. That roughly ties up with the date last year. FIFA then comes out a week or two after.

What's the cut across the box ? Is that shooting back the opposite direction to where you're skating???

No; It's just two skaters skate in parallel (one inline with the front post and one at the back). Skater 1 basically just passes it across the goal at the last minute to the other guy who wrists it straight in. The goalie kinda just stands there and lets it happen!

You can block it over and over, but if people just use that one tactic again and again (like EVERY attack) they'll get at least 3/4 goals a game.

As I was a bit of a latecomer to the '09 avforums team I'll attempt to buy this early on and add my supreme* defensive skills to the team ethic. Looking forward to it

Obviously Hockey isn't 'high profile' in the UK so admittedly to buy this title you've probably got to have an interest in the actual game however personally I think EA's NHL franchise beats their other high profile 'team games' (FIFA, Madden, NBA) in terms of pure gameplay and playability.

Hope that opinion isn't too controversial

* for 'supreme' read 'mediocre'

Just had a go of the demo, same old stuff as last year really but with a few extra additions (first person fighting, wall hugging etc).

Ran fine on the PS3 too, no doubt I'll be picking this up
