Which shooter shall I buy?

Hi there

Will shortly be buying a PS3 (not sure if it will be a slim or 80gb yet) and would like to know which shooter I should buy as there are so many out there. I really loved Resident Evil 4 on Gamecube so will probably get RE5 as it is only £20 at my Sainsbury's but are there better games available? Sounds like Metal Gear Solid 4 is fantastic but what about Infamous, dead space etc?
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

MAG! Seriously if you want an online shooter this is the one! The beta is truly amazing and the fact there's 255 other people playing with you, well it makes it very tense.

If you like third person shooters and horror then definitely get Dead Space.

If you are going to play online COD 4 or 5 would be my picks.

Yeah it's a really great game!

But all depends on what kind of shooter you'd like, if it's an all out online FPS then MAG of course.

Online FPS with a bit of singleplayer then probably the COD series.

etc and so on, give us more details and we'll be able to give out more back to you in return :D

can't say I'm impressed with MAG but Dead Space was amazing - MGS4 too - couldn't go wrong with either of those - Batman's good too

Re: Which shooter shall I buy?

It depends what kind of shooter you want. If you want to solve puzzles and find keys for doors and roam aound generally getting lost after youve killed people then stuff like Dead Space, Batman, Fallout 3 but if youre after all out carnage then its COD or Killzone 2 plus others I cant remember.
Personally Killzone 2 did it for me recently. Single player and online are good. And its cheap now.

Re: Which shooter shall I buy?

I'm having a similar dilema!

Any two of;
Infamous
Operation Flashpoint 2
Dirt 2
Batman

Operation flashpoint looks pretty good and at the moment I'm going around that, but not sure about which other one to get! MW2, Uncharted 2 and Assassins Creed 2 are all out soon so will be getting them (and would also say that they're some of the best looking games to come)

Re: Which shooter shall I buy?

Thanks for all the advice guys. Probably won't be playing too much online. I like games that involve some puzzle solving etc but any type of shoot'em up suits me. Like I said previously my favourite game is RE4 so anything similar would be great. Saw the trailer for operation flashpoint and it does look awesome.
I will probably get RE5, Streetfighter 4 and Batman anyway for a bit of variety but what else would you recommend?
Not really bothered by racing or sports games to be honest and would prefer modern warfare to anything set in World Wars etc.
Thanks

Re: Which shooter shall I buy?

The orange box is good, not only half life 2 (as well as episodes 1 + 2) but also TF2 which is great fun! And portal can become a bit puzzling towards the end.

Re: Which shooter shall I buy?

God of War 3 isnt exactly a shoot em up, more of a "crush their skulls with your bare hands" em up, but if the new one is going to be anything like the previous versions, on both PS2 and PSP, it will be stunning. Some puzzling involved also, some skill, but more stand out for its uncompromising approach to brutal fight scenes. It will be definately worth a peek.

Re: Which shooter shall I buy?

Ive enjoyed loads of games so far... Killzone 2, Unreal Tournament 3, Uncharted: Drakes Fortune, Batman AA, COD 4 and loads more.
Picked up Quantum of Solace in HMV the other day as an impulse buy - and for £10 its a whole lot of fun if you want a cheap shooter!

Re: Which shooter shall I buy?

Give LBP a go. It's a platform, online, puzzle game. It's also brilliant if you've got someone to play with in co-op mode

Batman is brilliant. It's got everything you could ask for in a game. Puzzling, platform, challenge rooms, fighting, big bosses, great storyline

Killzone 2 = about £20 probably less
Far cry 2 = about £10
Rainbow six vegas 1 and 2 = get both for £20
Battlefield Bad Company = £10
