Re: Call of Juarez:Bound in Blood - Play & Help Thread

I've got this on pre-order on Amazon so, hopefully should be playing it at the weekend.

Quite looking forward to it, as the only Western themed game I've played has been an add-on to Half-Life a long time ago. It will make a change from the futuristic games I've been playing recently.

Gametrailers video review gives it a general thumbs-up.

Oh, and Horse-riding does look odd.

Re: Call of Juarez:Bound in Blood - Play & Help Thread

Just an update to my previous post in the preview thread.

Been playing the MP only and it's growing on me. I've experienced no disconnections from the games I've played just now although the controller disconnect issue is still there at times (not sure if this is happening to just me and if there is something wrong with my DUALSHOCK or it's happening to everyone who has the game).

I've collected enough money to unlock 3 characters ($21348) although there are 8 characters to unlock in total with you starting off with a choice of 5. I'm using the Rifleman class as it's got the rifle which is good for medium-long range and pistols for short. The graphics are nice, no slowdowns or lag encountered so far and the controls are good too (L1 to aim and R1 to shoot).

You can search what game type you want to play and join that server although you have to wait until the required number of players have joined the game and until that happens, you just play the game in a kind of "warmup mode" - just playing without gaining cash until the game starts.

Enjoying it so far though, nice shooter

EDIT: The controller disconnect issue I mentioned only happens when a red cross appears on screen - I'm assuming this is why the gameplay pauses due to lag and not the controller being disconnected?

Re: Call of Juarez:Bound in Blood - Play & Help Thread

I'm just going to go with my gut on this one and trade some games in for this tomorrow. I'm just too much of a fan of western's to give this a miss. Feel free to add me for any multiplayer fun- DaadyDee.

Edit: Can you create custom games and just limit the game to invited friends or players on your friends list ony, in the multiplayer?

Hey DaddyDee,

Just had a look and you can create a game (choose maps, number of people, length, etc.) and once you begin the game, you can then invite people on your friends list via XMB. Can't see a party system or anything similar...

Re: Call of Juarez:Bound in Blood - Play & Help Thread

Played about 3 hours of just mp last night. Great fun and the controls are spot on. Pretty much lag free if you use quick ranked game or search for low lag hosted games. There are no controller disconnects.....that only happens when you end up in a lag filled game which is rare. I would also advise you use this pre order code that was posted in the xbox section to unlock some stuff. (thanks to reddevil63)

Gamestop in the US issued pre-order codes and it works here as I have entered it.

The code is: 735S653J

This unlocks:

Quote:
New Content has been unlocked
Extra money for equipment in SP has been added
Extra money for charactors unlock in MP has been added
Your weapons in MP will now become silver from now on
You have gained an exclusive weapon to be used in 1st 2 chapters
__________________

I love the feel of the weapons and when you hit someone you know about it.

Highlight so far was on one of the maps where ultimately the outlaws need to break into the stables and mount horses to get away...I was on the lawmen side and spawned up on a roof and picked off 3 of 'em (falling off horse) as they made a break for it.

Proper western action Best part still got the single player to discover yet.

yes mate that is definitely the lag/disconnect icon. Your controller is fine

Re: Call of Juarez:Bound in Blood - Play & Help Thread

Been in two minds about getting this over the last couple of days but the chance to pretend to be Emilio Estevez whilst humming "dead or alive" to myself has proven too much so I'll be picking it up this evening.

I'm interested in the online side of it but don't think anyone of my friends list will be getting it, so if anyone on here fancies a few friendly games drop me a friends request. I'll be on most of the weekend once I pick it up.

Yeah, pull it down (the R stick) so it's level with the holster, then a quick jab to the left (with the R stick) to pull the gun out.

i'll add you when I'm next on. I really enjoyed the multiplayer aspect of the game. The maps are pretty good, although a fair bit of it is blocked off to keep you 'in bounds'. Anyway hope to see some of you online soon

Off away for a week but will pick this up when I return I reckon, sounds good.

Give you lot a chance to play it properly and I'll get a good idea if it's any good by the level of moaning posted between now and then!

There are 3 chapters in one act going by my progress so far. I've reached Act 3 and it's a great SP so far, MP is good too.

Re: Call of Juarez:Bound in Blood - Play & Help Thread

I started playing the multiplayer last night at about 7.30 intending to just have a quick look. I was still on it by 12.30! Great fun.

Love the weighty feel of the weapons and when you hit someone (or get hit) you can really tell. Also really like using the bow. Nothing like sending an arrow into someones back from the other side of the map - Swiiiiish, Thump.

All the different game modes seem interesting as well, although I've not seen any horses yet.

I give it Billy The Kid/10

Re: Call of Juarez:Bound in Blood - Play & Help Thread

Rented the game from Blockbuster this evening thinking "i'll pay £6 and play through the singleplayer this week". So, I played a couple of levels and though "meh, pretty good for £6 but not £40". But now after playing an hour of multiplayer I can really see myself buying this game and playing it online till MW2 comes out. It rocks. Especially "shootout", the more kills you get the more your head is worth. Played it for a bit getting $100 or so for my kills the someone killed me and got $500. I thought "that's strange" but after a look at the scoreboard and to my shock I was first! All thanks to the sniper! I havn't played with any other classes yet as I LOVE the sniper, I just keep picking them off 1-by-1 getting a decent straight then when I run out of bullets I go hunting for other snipers in the huts with my revolver.

Love the online atm, will see if I get into the singleplayer at all. I tend not to with games that have multi-player.

I would strongly advise you to play the single player. It has a great story and is very cinematic. If you dont play it, you are seriously mnissing out.

Theres much more flow and story to single player in this than COD.

Theres much more flow and story to single player in this than COD.
Thanks for the heads up, i'll probably get hooked after another hour but at the moment I'm just not feeling it.

Re: Call of Juarez:Bound in Blood - Play & Help Thread

Been playing online on this the past two night.

Shooter and posse game modes have your usual jumping run and gunners from COD 4 but the other game modes are fantastic.

The developers have captured the mood just right with this one making it feel old and clunky but still very fresh.

Gets a Jack Sparrow out of 10 from me.

As per the norm these days, less than a day after release some DLC has been announced. Should be interesting to see what it is

Loving this game. I like the wild west legends game type best.
