Thought i would start this thread in here as it was where most people knew Genie.

Condolences to all his family and friends.

I'M almost in tears here reading the origional thread.

I cannot believe I had psn'd Ben only last month to welcome him back to COD:MW.

Just a thought, but we could avoid utterances on the scum that did this and concentrate on Ben himself.

Like most of us, I did not know Ben, but on a personnal level, he was one of the first 10 on my friends list.

My sincere condolences to Bens family and friends and could anyone who knew Ben pass on everyones condolences from AV Forums.

Think I'll go and hug my kids now.

For all the negatives attributed to gaming it has genuinely touched me this morning reading through the posts on the other thread which broke this sad news, that to what ever extent some of us knew Genie1 we have been moved by his untimely passing.

playing cod4 will never ever be the same without the legend Ben , a true hero it seems lived among us and it was an absolute honour and privilege to have know the man in the cyber world . im sure if we had of met in the real world we could have easily have been friends as he was one of the nicest and genuine guys to talk to . as a member of the AVFA i would like to convey my gratitude of playing with him in many matches and he will be missed when MW2 comes out it will not be the same without you BEN

i hope my sympathies can be passed on to Ben's family and friends and his heroism will be passed on in the gaming community and there wont be a person i meet that wont be told of his bravery .

I feel sick to the stomach reading that newspaper article. Hope the scum get what they deserve. Played with Genie/Ben a lot on WAW and he carried me along frequently. It was only last week we had a game with him and he reappeared on the forum, so this feels a bit surreal now. My sincere condolences to his family and friends may you RIP. I don't know if anyone else has though of this but i would be happy to donate towards some flowers for his funeral, if maybe his friend Crimson Monkee could set a link up. I think seeing as he was a popular guy amongst our online community its the least we could do to remember him. I read this on national teletext this morning and thought nothing of it until now

Thats a great suggestion, I didnt know the guy in any capacity but mindless thugs have rob his family of a member so young and also taken a fellow gamer from us also.

I'm shocked by this and pray his family get justice.

I'm shocked and saddened that Ben was taken from this world in such a horrific way.


The brief time i knew Genie1 (Ben) like myself and many others i remember having some great games with him and some even better banter.

One time I'll never forget was being chased by Genie in a MICHAEL MYERS game on WaW. with someone playing out Benny Hill Music


My thoughts go out to his family and friends. But most of all to his girlfriend.

I'm finding it hard not to swear on here in relation to the mindless people that have done this.

On the BBC site this is the top read story on BBC News at the moment, I don't mention it as a consolation to anyone, just to highlight that at least it is getting the profile that it deserves.

PS. I'm more than happy to make a donation but if possible would prefer one to a charity nominated by the family. I appreciate this may not be straightforward to organise.

This is truly tragic news.

I was desperately trying to hold on to the belief that this was all going to turn out to be a major misunderstanding or something.

I am totally lost for words from reading the news links to what occurred on Saturday, I can only give my sincerest condolences to Genie's/Ben's family and friends.
