Re: Official AVF FIFA League: Part 7

hey chaps

a quiet summer of FIFA in the Goo Household .... but I have pre-ordered my copy from Game. Really looking forward to getting back into some action and so count me in for the Official AVF League whenever it starts. I also throw my weight behind Adi and maybe Geo too to run things smoothly and keep this thread ticking along nicely.

Here's to another season of Official AVF League action

I really like it. Seems like a more natural game of football, a lot more physical contact but I give away loads of free kicks! Finishing seems a lot harder and am currently trying to find away to score from one on ones!

What about you?

As mentioned before, count me in if we all at least move on to ALL Semi config apart from both through balls set to Manual.
I personally would also prefer manual passing but understand why a lot wouldn't.

Sorry to go on about this but I won't waste my time playing against FULLY assisted anymore as I just don't enjoy it.

So I'm still up for it depending on Config used. I guess we will wait and see.

Does it make much difference going from assisted to semi and then to full manual?

Changing to all manual would probably put people off. The top players would get used to it and still be the top players but the ones who struggle with full assisted would just leave the league.

I think you are flogging a dead horse tbh.

EDIT: You'd probably be better setting up your own league with the settings you prefer and see if there is enough interest.

Not really......It's different, that's it. Play with full manual and it's difficult to start with but just becomes natural the more you play.

The ones who will struggle with it are the ones who just struggle with the game in general.

Fair enough with that but I did say I understand why people wouldn't want to go full manaul passing. Semi is a good compromise as it's no big step up anyway.

Playing on all assisted is pants though. Surprised people in this league, who have been playing for a year or so, still stick to button mashing. I might be wrong with that but from older comments, that seems the case.

Going to semi isn't above peoples capabilities at all (that's the impression I get from playing most people from here as everybody is pretty good at the game) and it won't change the gameplay drastically anyway.

Surely it will make for more interesting, fun, more of a laugh games and when we score they will be more rewarding. It will also introduce more realistic scorelines.

I'm just bored of repetitive games with perfect passing. Let's introduce a little anarchy. A bit more variation to the play and a bit of the unknown.

I'm just trying to freshen things up a bit as it was getting very stale in here and games were too "samey" all the time. Ping, ping, ping perfect passing. Not very realistic tbh.

I honestly believe assisted helps the "better" players more than other settings would. If the same players ended up being better then they would deserve it then. No more arguments either as you would get beat by the better player, not the AI help.

Everybody give it a go on the demo for a few weeks and then come back and vote on it. That's not too much to ask is it?

I suggest..
Passing - Semi
Crossing - Semi
Shooting - Semi
Both through balls - Manual

Like you said, I'm flogging a dead horse though...

I think we should start a name list (and I think we should stick to existing league members with considerations for established avf members)

Re: Official AVF FIFA League: Part 7

Hi guys,

Sorry, not been on forum for a good while now, primarily as no longer own Fifa 09, so apologies for that first.

Next, would like to be involved again in new league, and can state won't be involved in any 'arguements' this year round, lol! Not that i was bad for it, but i did have a moan regarding team choices one time, given TOP players had stronger teams, and poor wee me, who wasn't the best, had someone whack, lol!

Anyway, thats done with now, new game, everyone starts on same standing, the good players will no doubt be getting plenty practice in on the demo, and good just to start a fresh.

So, if everyone's fine with that, i too would like to sign up again, and will be keeping eye on thread from now on!

Cheers.

I don't think it's a case of jumping ship, it's just that several members cannot be arsed with the inevitable bickering that will occur. Tbh most members have thanked and applauded the likes of Gunny and Baz for making the league what it was, rather than giving a blanket thumbsdown to all those that have left.

There is a way to get around the bickering but nobody wants to know.

Anyway, all that needs doing is to say at the beginning that if you moan about one thing then you are out.
Post results, a "Nice match report" and that's it. As much as people might be ****** off with somebody, nobody else really gives a toss. Take it to PM if need be.
If somebody is absolutely slating you, prove evidence and then whoever it is gets kicked out of league. Simple.

Yeah i didn't really think anyone had 'jumped ship'

The 09 league ended, Gun stepped down and 10 will be out soon.

I know a few left but that happens every season.

Hopefully Gimp boy - Adicolor - will take up the batton and the league will get back to normal.

Ok that's fair enough. I was just disappointed about some of the guys who said they won't be playing any more like yourself. I have enjoyed the games played with all in the league and it wasn't an attack on you or anyone else who doesn't want to play next year.

Also I did give my thanks to Gunny, if you go back to the previous thread.

Put your spoon down Baz I thank you too

I mentioned this before but no response and I haven't read anything about it so far.

Maybe the leagues won't need all the admin in 10 (apart from the initial invite to join a league) as maybe it's fixed within the game this year???

Maybe the leagues won't need all the admin in 10 (apart from the initial invite to join a league) as maybe it's fixed within the game this year???
Do we know whether this is the case yet???

I still think that we need one or maybe two people to admin the league. EA Sports servers are notoriously bad and would probably screw up the league anyway so I'd recommend using the same league setup that Gunny used.

I'd be more than willing to help with the admin of the league (assuming there are no objections) so let me know what you guys think.

We also need to consider the league structure (one big league or a number of small ones and the teams allocation) so can we all post our thoughts on this?

I'd recommend we keep it same as before with the same players in their respective leagues with new players (including me) starting from the bottom league and working their way up. Just a thought.

Yeah mate, I remember a few disconnects and the odd powercut (hi Abbey) that would balls up the EA/Fifa League.

Maybe randomise the people (depending on numbers) for each league. Towards the end it seemed to be the same people in the prem with who ever came up going down again. I wouldn't mind starting at the bottom again to!

Adi Gimpboy and Ultima - sorry mate, i can't bring myself to call you Sweetwater for new league bosses!
