Does GTA work through the Center channel?

Hi

I just got a set of B&W 683's and center channel and have them hooked up to the PS3 through digital into an Arcam AVR 350.

My question is, do you get sound coming through the center channel in PS3 games? I dont get any through it during GTA?

Pretty sure i do, it wouldn't be 5.1 otherwise.

Do you get this on any other games?

I just tried metal gear ande it sounds amazing and i get a signal through the center channel. Maybe it is just GTA?

Any one have no center channel on GTA?

don't have GTA but can't say I've not has sound from the centre, unless I switch the amp to 'stereo'

Yeh i think it may just be GTA, as the rest of my games play through all the speakers.

i have a similar prolem the sound is very quiet out of my centre speaker. i am linked to a sony STR-DG910 and get full 5.1 linked by HDMI. I'm wondering if it is a problem within the game. Would here be a way of addressing this? I have to raise the level of the centre speaker which i then have to turn down to watch tv!!!!

Interesting. I will try turning my centre speaker up and see if i hear anything, although im pretty sure that it is just playing out of the L/R channel.

Must be the game. AS far as im aware my settings are all spot on.

I get the same thing too. No sound through centre channel. I've got optical out from Ps3 to my PC soundcard. Settings are correct because i can play my other PS3 games with 5.1 sound through optical and then up-mixed to 7.1. Gta seems to be very quiet though

Yeh it must be the way they have set up the sound in the game.

Sound on GTA4 is poor for me too, keep having to high the volume to hear conversations during cut scenes and in game, but lower it again when driving/shooting etc.

Same problem here, rubbish centre volume and when you turn it up the BG noise is loud, tried changing sound in options. Does nothing. Other games seem fine.

Yes, same for me.....

Can hardly hear Niko at times due to the dodgy centre channel on this game...

Still, it's still a fantastic game.....
