GTA through centre channel?

I just bought some B&W 683 floorstanders and the matching centre channel.

Just a question regarding the centre channel. To you guys playing DD 5.1 through a 3 channel set-up, do you get any audio playing through the centre? I am only getting it through the L & R channels.

The amp i have is an Arcam AVR 350. Thanks

Frase

Re: GTA through centre channel?

I'm pretty sure that the centre channel is used! Not sure about your setup, but two things you may want to check that your PS3 and amp are speaking the same language, as I had a similar problem.

I believe if your amp does TrueHD, then you should set the PS3 audio output to be Bitstream. If your amp just does 5.1/6.1/etc then set the PS3 audio output to Linear PCM. I think that's the right way round, please anyone feel free to correct me! In either case also make sure your amp is set to the correct thing too.

My problem was that the amp was set to auto, and I'd changed the PS3 audio settings. As a result on games/BluRay etc I was only getting stereo sound, which I knew wasn't right (and forcing the amp to Dolby and using the centre was a fudge). Eventually I did some searching, changed the PS3 audio settings and all was well!

Re: GTA through centre channel?

The Amp does not do True HD audio.

The PS3 is set to bitstream. But strangely when playing MGS4 i get full centre channel sound working correctly. Just nothing with GTA.

Strange
