Yeah, I play online also. There was a few online problems for me before the update but It's been fine since.

I have a 60gb launch day ps3 (actually its 250gb now) and the only problems i had was the game save problem that what sorted with the patch and the multiplayer mode which is still a bit unstable.

Never had a crash or anything mid game in over 30 hours of play on the game so far.

mine worked for about a week but then all went to hell. it corrupted my whole HDD so had to full format my ps3 - lost everything.
glad to hear you have not had any problems cause its happened to few peeps on here and gotta tell you its a pain

Slightly off topic, but I've got a new 40gb version and GTA (and only GTA), makes the level 3 fan come on after only 15mins play.

Very odd. Looking at getting a replacement ps3, but I keep reading more and more that this is happening to others too. Too much of a coincendence if you ask me.

this has been happening to some peeps http://ps3.consolenewsblog.com/451-p...red-light-fix/ , they say its as a resault of this game and heat ps3 produces

Apart from the PSN sign in problem that everyone had my launch day 60gb PS3 has had no problems with GTA4 at all so I don't see how there could be a hardware issue requiring different firmware for some early PS3's and not others, unless they are referring to the even earlier version that the rest of the world had before europe?

i have a 60gb launch ps3 , and i havent been able to play a single game online since i got it launch day . have tried everything from psn trick to firmware updates on router . gave up now but its really weak from R* if they cant get the most anticepated game in years to work

touch wood i know what you mean but there are some that have had- i have. i think its them just beeing safe - prevention is better then cure

with this link (http://www.boomtown.net/en_uk/articl...w.php?id=15994) aren't they referring to the US launch model though? I have a 60Gig EU (IRL) launch model and so far (touch wood) GTA IV is running fine.

Ok it does cause the fans to step up a lot quicker (than other games) but I'm guessing that's down to increased demand on the processor as much as anything else.

Thanks for posting this mate, about half an hour ago I just got this exact problem, with GTA4 stuck in the drive . Will give it a go later on!

UK Launch day 60GB PS3, - No problems yet- froze twice very early on (2nd freeze unfroze itself after 30 secs), but apart from that and the online issues everyone had on the 1st week..its been perfectly fine since

In fact I haven't had a GTA freeze or online issues or anything

Maybe I'm just lucky

60GB launch model here, no Single player issues at all even before the Patch, the only issue was online wouldn't work that well but since the patch it's been fine.. But that artical is refering to the U.S 60GB which in turn is different to the euro one maybe that's why we are not getting as many problems.

Early 60GB model here, only issue I've had is when it locked up once going into multiplayer on launch night... After that it's been smooth sailing

I have a 60GB launch PS3 and mine works fine. During the first week the game would freeze and crash randomly when connected to the PSN, but this was resolved 'before' the patch came out and I haven't had any problems since. Also - I would point out that people with 40GB models and non launch PS3s had the same problem...

Maybe you should run a poll just for people who have 60GB launch model PS3s... as that is the only way you will see how many people are affected or not - My guess is that this story is just scaremongering - I don't believe that launch PS3s are affected by this at all, as mine and everyone else's here would be too. Sounds like people are just getting unlucky rather than a wider problem to me.

(I do however find that the framerate is the worst I've ever seen in a game, the fans sound like a lawnmower, and the graphics look like they're running on an overclocked PS2, but apart from that no other problems here... - Still fun though... )

No problems for me neither, before or after patch,
60gb uk version(was upgraded to 120gb but back to 60 when laptop hard drive died),

off topic regarding GTA IV the only problem i had was with the xbox360 which was the corupt game saves and freezing.............

So have any USA 60GB launch users had issues pre-patch? And is it any better post-firmware 2.35?

I guess all we can hope is Sony now makes devs test vs all hardware models available...

Just to post my experience... I have a launch day 60GB console and sure enough my GTA IV locked up straight after the first cut scene finished... as soon as you get control of Roman's cab to drive back to the apartment. I tried 3 times and 3 times the game locked up and froze in the same place. I tried one of the ideas from many that was offered from Rockstar which was to clear my web browser cache (I cleared all stored web data not just the cache). Hey Presto my copy of GTA IV worked and has been working ever since, not had any lock-up issues (or any issues) and I've been playing for a couple of weeks now.

I just hope I haven't hexxed myself saying that the issues haven't re-occurred.
