Batman xbox or ps3 :S

Batman for the ps3 or the 360
Is the extra content for the ps3 really worth it?

Re: Batman xbox or ps3 :S

You are asking people in a ps3 section if their version is better. Thats just asking for trouble

The ps3 has the joker challange room exclusive . So it depends if you are you bothered about the challange rooms side of the game.

Re: Batman xbox or ps3 :S

Both are the same, the differences are hard to tell. Have a look at the game play version of each, and then decide from there.

Re: Batman xbox or ps3 :S

AFAIK all the versions (PC, PS3 and 360) are the same. The PS3 version has the Joker Challenge maps so that should help sway your decision. Other than that they all have the same content. Bear in mind though that the game runs on the unreal engine so graphics may be slightly better on 360 (and will be much better on PC if you have one that can run it). Basically though I'd say there's nothing in it between the PS3 and 360 versions other than the Joker content so unless you REALLY want gamerscore over trophies, I'd go for the PS3 version. I don't know if it has multiplayer, but at any rate it is a largely single player game.

EDIT: it should also be noted that you can get a "scarecrow" challenge map if you pre-order from game on any platform, but unlike the joker stuff there is a chance it will be payed DLC at a later date

Re: Batman xbox or ps3 :S

The 360 version has 2xAA to smooth out the jaggies and a better lighting effect on the models so looks a little sharper + slightly less screen tearing & a few more FPS when it gets frantic.

Despite this I went for the PS3 version today as my 18/12 360 has just e68'd within three weeks of being returned for a rrod.

Re: Batman xbox or ps3 :S

Both versions are very similar. But this analysis does say the PS3 version has better graphics

Lens of Truth » Blog Archive » Head2Head – Batman: Arkham Asylum

and PS3 does have exclusive Joker maps.

If you are bothered by Aliasing then dont get the PS3 version. Other than that a rock solid port on all formats.

IGN and Digital Floundry give the 360 the nod for better visuals and having played both I would tend to agree.

Having played both they look the same to me. If there are any differences they are insignificant and not noticeable IMHO.

Re: Batman xbox or ps3 :S

I wonder why these threads automatically harp on about how a game looks. Now developers have their heads round both platforms the difference is marginal (and thats both games playing side by side) I'm not sure anyone plays the same game at the same time on different platforms - thats the only way I can see someone would pick up on what little differences perhaps exist.

Surely things like price, controller preference, available DLC and future support all come WAY higher on the list in a decision like this.

I like the PS3 controller, I got the game for £22 and I can play on the Joker maps - no brainer.

Well yes if lack of AA does not bother you then I'd agree it's insignificant. To say that it is not noticeable is simply not true, for me in 2009 it is not good enough.

Therefore my vote goes with the 360 version from a technical viewpoint.

Whether there is a lack of AA on the PS3 version is besides the point. Neither version is perfect when if comes to visuals and overall they pretty much look the same. the 360 version is flawed too. If you're convinced that the 360 one looks better then so be it. It's no wonder people think that way when you have the media making pointless comparisons when they are not needed. At the end of the day both versions look pretty good but what matters is the game play which is highly polished and is what makes the game fun to play on either console. .

Fair enough, but really... A very very narrow graphical advantage over extra content?

Would you buy a graphically enhanced version of guitar hero 25 for the PS3 over the guitar hero 25 version with extra content for the Xbox360?

Sorry but we will have to agree to disagree. Lack of AA for me is far worse than, for example, lower res textures shown in some PS3 versions of cross platform games.

In anycase I was answering the question of the poster not inviting a debate on my point of view.

Isn't that the whole point of a forum? Surely, if you don't want your opinions challenged, wouldn't you be better keeping them to yourself?

OK first off if it were not for the fact the PC version does not come out for a few weeks I would have got that as I downloaded the demo and even on my ATI4670 I was able to play it at the highest setting with 8xAA and16xAF putting it way beyond both platforms in terms of graphical fidelity

To answer you question I'm sorry, again, I do not see lack of AA as giving the 360 version a 'very very narrow graphical advantage'. For me it is significant. I also do not really see the Joker as being playable as really being considered as 'extra content'.

In my original post I stated both were solid conversions but having an eye for graphics I'm sorry the PS3 version does not match up.

I have not played Guitar Hero so I can not comment, but to answer the question I believe you are asking me - if, for example, the PS3 version of Grand Theft Auto, which I believe is technically inferior, was getting 'the lost and the dammed' and also The Ballad of Gay Tony' extra content (regardless of paying for it), and the 360 was not, then yes I would take the 'graphically' inferior version for the ‘extra content’.

Anyway I think the asker of the questions has enough now to make an informed decision.

I haven't seen my opinions challenged on this thread yet?? I was clearly stating I was making my opinon known to the poster, not inviting to be drawn into a debate - as I really can't be bothered.

Re: Batman xbox or ps3 :S

Out of the two the 360 looks slightly better due to better AA, but then the PS3 version has the Joker in the Challenge rooms. I would personally buy the PS3 version (prefer the pad and the console for playing games on) but there's nothing really in it to be honest.

Just buy it on the console you prefer to game on.

Surely if the games are nigh on identical then the version with the most re-playability/extras is the best bet then.....which would point to the PS3 version . Joker challenges and extra Home space (if that is your thing?) is more than the the 360 version gets.

Exactly my point. For you, things like AA and what not are important. For I and I suspect many others (not on these forums admittedly), AA and such like is not an issue. Although owing a 360, most, if not all of my gaming is done on the PS3. Whilst in performance terms there may be a few issues with the PS3 version of Batman, but there is absolutely nothing game breaking for 99% of people and certainly not enough for me to open up my cranky noise machine to play it on that.

If you are suggesting that the difference between the 360 and PS3 versions of Batman are that severe then you need Specsavers.

On your first point - yes i'd agree, but the game the poster was asking about is not nigh on identical.

On your second point, I played one challenge match haven't played another since and doubt I will again (pointless to me - just like the hoard was on GOW). Used home once for 15 mins and then gave up on it.

As per my post earlier if the PS3 version had for example another hours worth of campain missions then yes I would have bought the PS3 version.

Zz zzzzzzzzzzzzz your insults are boring me now and given the tone of your posts I really can't be bothered to respond to you. Sorry I offended your love of the PS3.

Good night.
