guitar hero wireless receiver

I bought guitar hero 3 legends of rock from a car boot with the wireless kramer guitar but it didnt come with the receiver for the ps2
I tried it on 2 wireless controller receivers but its not communicating,the red led flashes but no joy
i have tried the troubleshooting pages on redoctanes site too but nothing
is it a special receiver for guitar hero games?
