playstation 1 / 2

Hi all,

This is a good one!!!

Bought a cheapie lcd tv for use with my playstation 2.

The playstation 2 games work fine on it.
If I put an old ps1 in it. the TV comes up no scart signal. This also happens on componeet, yprpb and even RF!!!!!

Have tried my old ps1 and the only thing that displays is the playstation boot up logo, when the game starts the screen goes blank.

Have tried on another lcd portable and works fine. Is my TV knackered or is it short of something?

cheers

Re: playstation 1 / 2

My guess, and it is just a guess, is that it something to do with your TV screen's native resolution.

The PS/One, so I've read, outputs either 320x240 or 600x400 dependent on the game. If your TV can not display these resolutions, or perhaps just the lower one, that might be an explanation for the problem you have.

In other words there is nothing wrong with the TV, it just isn't compatible with some (all?) PS/One games.

Just done some checking and it seems I'm just about corrrect: found this discussion about an identical issue which might help at:
