Just bought a new copy of COD World at War, but it seems to be stuck on loading. Exchanged it for another new copy and its just the same!
'Game' have suggested that it is that my PS2 that does not spin fast enough to read the 'new' games, although the console is less than a year old; the black slim version. As far as I am concerned the console has not been superceded, so I cannot see why it should not be able to play the game.
Anyone with the same problem, or a solution please?

There are some known issues with various versions of the slimline PS2 and certain PSone games and an even smaller number of, mostly obscure older Japanese, PS2 games too. But I've checked all the usual places and CoD: World at War doesn't seem to be one of them. It's also not listed as a dual-layer Dvx9 game are more susceptible to provoking the DRE problems that PS2s of all types may exhibit if the laser gets out of alignment.

If you've have no problems with any other games (try God of War or Gran Turismo 4) I'd say go to GAME and get your money back. My guess is they have a faulty batch and you should try getting it somewhere else.

Their explanation for the problem sounds like a typical pile of **** and that's putting it mildly. If they honestly thought that was true why did they give you a new copy?

Edit: I've trawled through the archives of several gaming web sites for topics concerning any technical problems involving PS2 CoD WaW. I can't find anything relevant so I've placed some posts myself asking about any loading/freezing/DRE problems with PS2 slimlines but as yet have no replies.

I decided to take it back, and did get my money back no problem, I think it may be time to trade in and go for an xbox!

A real original XBox or a XB360? If the latter - good luck with it, make sure you get one with the most recent chipset/motherboard (Jasper).
