PS2 Black And White Problem

Hello, basically, i've just set my PS2 up on my Panasonic Viera, I have plugged the 3 different coloured plug thingys into the sockets, the yellow one has gone in the video socket which is a different colour, as there is no yellow coloured socket, and the two audio in accordingly.
I dont know what the problem is, my games are in black and white, and its really cheesing me off, the plug goes only has a picture in that particular socket all the others I dont get any picture at all from, apart that that one which the picture is black and white.
Please help, I dont know what to do

Re: PS2 Black And White Problem

Sounds like you have plugged your PS2 into a component input, Red Green Blue..
You need to have your PS2 plugged into a composite input, Yellow Red White, Red and White being for audio..
Please confirm whether the current input you have on the panel is Red Green Blue or Yellow Red and White..

Re: PS2 Black And White Problem

Right, ill describe the set up at the back.
There are no yellow sockets.
There is a outlined box saying Component, in which there are red blue and green sockets, my yellow cable is plugged into the green socket as it is the only one that gives a picture at all it seems.
Then in a box outlined saying Audio In, my red and white cables are plugged into the red and white sockets accordingly.
Am I missing something or doing something wrong?
Thanks for the reply btw!

Re: PS2 Black And White Problem

You are doing something very wrong..
As I stated before, component is component, composite is composite..
You have a composite (yellow cable) plugged into a component ( RGB cable), they are incompatible.
I would suggest buying a PS2 component cable PS2 COMPONENT CABLE | Buy Online PS2-COMPONENT » Playstation 2 » Cables » Wholesale and Retail as an example.
I would also suggest ceasing the input you have as, well you can't do any damage, it is just not he appropriate connection..

Re: PS2 Black And White Problem

The colours of the sockets aren't just there to make the back of the TV look pretty

It is actually quite unusual for a TV not to provide some form of Composite connection option if not from a dedicated socket then via a SCART adapter.

But as 24P says you're best off buying a PS2 Component cable and if you do remember BEFORE using the Component cable to swap the PS2's output setting via the start up menus to YPbPr. Ironically you will need to use your existing wrongly connected Composite cable to do that.
