Games Advice?

Recently decided to get out the PS2 again, the last 3 games I brought for the PS2 where Resident Evil 4, MGS 3:Substance and Tomb Raider Legend when they got released, and I was wondering if anyone can name any good games Ive missed out since then ?

Re: Games Advice?

Have you checked out Okami, God Of War 2 or the latest Final Fantasy? All worth a look and if you like your RPGs a little weird then P3 is released round about now i think.

Here's a good resource for referencing game scores...

Re: Games Advice?

Tomb Raider Anniversary is a must; different (and IMHO far better) than Legend, most people find it harder and it is much longer. Within the last 2 years: God of War (1 & 2), Okami, as already recommended, Project Zero 3 and Global Defence Force are ones that come to mind.

There are so many older good or great games for the PS2 (Ico, Shadow of The Colossus, Ratchet & Clank) you're really spoilt for choice. Looking at your examples I'd particularly recommend PS2/multi-format game: Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy - a hugely under-rated third person action/adventure/shooter.

....and you must at least check out Farenheit - it's got to be one of the most strikingly original games i've ever played.

Re: Games Advice?

No, no, no to Fahrenheit. Certainly unusual, even unique but a peculiarly overated game. Starts well in every way but deteriorates slowly but surely until halfway through when I had to give up on it (very unusual for me). Repetitive, fatuous quick time events and tedious, often very long rythm sections. It bored me rigid. The story went well off at the same time too.

I love story/puzzle led games like Syberia 1 & 2, Myst, Still Life, Dreamfall (the latter two excellent but only on XBox) but this hybrid 'thing' is a very Marmite type of game but in any case obviously flawed. I wouldn't generally recommended it.
