ICO - Help!

I appreicate ICO isn't a PS3 game - but I am playing it on my PS3 and it's really good so gets a promotion

Anyway - I'm a little stuck and the online FAQs don't seem to help much I have just completed the Waterfall section and have entered a room with four platforms high up, a ladder leading up to the first one and pipes connecting them. The FAQs state that you go up the ladder and shimmy across the fourth platform.

Well I can get to the third but the pipe leading to the fourth platform (which is clearly my destination as it has the window and ladder I need to access) finishes short of the platform and I just fall to my doom. Now as far as I'm aware I can't side jump so how do you get to the platform?

There is a switch on the third one that seems to start some machinery on the ground floor including some block that propels you into the air - but it doesn't push you high enough.

Any help would be appreciated

Re: ICO - Help!

Sorry but it is a PS2 game and we do have a PS2 games forum here. There would be no point having seperate forum sections if people are just going to post where ever they think their post/thread will get the most exposure. I will leave the redirect in the PS3 forum for a while so you have a better chance of getting a response.

Re: ICO - Help!

Solved it! I think, based on the FAQs I've read, the Euro version is slightly different to the US one. For the benefit of anyone else interested in this you need to stand on the moving block and jump at just the right time in order to grab a ledge directly above. Face the machinery, press jump (this will take you several attempts) and jump up the ledges to get to the fourth platform.

The subsequent Waterfall section also differs from the US FAQs as well in that you can't just climb the ladder - you need to jump onto the Waterfall blades and then jump to upto the platform.

Sorry Moogle - I should have posted in here - the PS2 is history as far as I'm concerned though.

Re: ICO - Help!

I completed this game a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it, it's so different from the vast majority of games out there, my brother is now playing it and he likes it too.

I almost quit it earlier today - the save game system was driving me mad as I kept having trouble grabing a chain and thus falling to my death result in 10mins replaying to get back to the same stage. However I kept going and completed it this evening

An excellent game that differs from the norm - I assume it's actually a sequel to Shadow Of The Colossus (or rather that game is a prequel to this) given the boy has horns.

Re: ICO - Help!

Shadow of the Colossus is only a spiritual sequel to Ico, there's no continuation of story of characters between the two, unless I've forgotten something.

That'll be the "dead" PS2 that's still outselling the oh-so alive PS3 then?

Re: ICO - Help!

If you've seen the ending to SotC, it 'almost' follows nicely into Ico. At least it explains the curse that he's afflicted with and why he gets sent to die in that temple.
