Hi,

I'm about to buy a PS3 and because of the lack of diversity in the actual catalogue, I've decided to get 10 of the best PS2 games to wait till the hot PS3 titles turn up later this year.

5 genres are on my wish list, 2 titles per genre would help me to make up my mind

Action

Racing

Sport

First person shooter

Platform

I've completely disconnected from the consoles world since the SNES so I have to seriously catch up and therefore the PS2 games are absolutely unknown to me.

Oh by the way, I live in Japan so I guess I shouldn't bother about playback compatibility right?

1 question came accross my mind however.

I will be buy the console in Japan since I live in overth and I guess that only japanese PS2 games will play on the PS3 or are they all "dezoned" meaning I can get some from the US or Europe which had never been imported on the japanese sole

I'm not 100% sure but as far as I know PS2 titles have not been made region free for use on the PS3. It means you'll have to buy NTSC PS2 games (rather than PAL ones) for it to work on your Jap PS3.

For creativity, originality and playability the three best games ever from PS2 were Silent Hill, Okami and Fahrenheit.

It was a pleasure and a privellege to play each and every one of those masterpieces and to this day the only game that has ever honestly continually scared the life out of me is Silent Hill, that game is terrifying.
