Re: PES6 Platinum edition?

The Platinum range is merely the budget line of PlayStation software. Platinum games are those that are re-released (generally quite a while) after their original releases with a lower price-tag.

Re: PES6 Platinum edition?

Thanks guys. I do know that the Platinum range tends to come out quite some time after the original release date and of course that it is cheaper but I was really wanting to know if that was all? are the games still exactly the same? I have seen PES6 in both flavours at the same time on a well known website, one priced at £11.99 and the other £19.99. If they are both the same, why would anyone bother to purchase the original and also why would the retailer bother to carry on stocking the original apart from the fact that there would be more profit in selling the latter.

Re: PES6 Platinum edition?

If the retailer has the original in stock, then they need to shift them, so will keep them on sale as long as people continue to look at them and buy them. After a while the original games tend to fall in line with the price of the "new" Platinum versions.

People do still buy the original version from choice – Final Fantasy fans, I know, prize the original versions of the PS1 games, far, far above the Platinum ones.

The games are exactly the same. You might get sightly less trade-in on a Platinum title - but looking at the example for PES, the initial saving would out-weigh that. Save yourself 8 quid and buy the platinum.

Titles go 'Platinum' when they have sold a certain amount of copies of the game. I think it's 500,000 copies in the UK. So if it's sold that well, you're almost guaranteed a quality game...

Re: PES6 Platinum edition?

Thanks for all your info guys. I have already bought PES6 (£6 delivered) off another member in the classifieds, hence my question, and yes it was the Platinum edition

Re: PES6 Platinum edition?

£6 is a bargain for a great game. Pro Evo 7 is due October time, but you'll easily get your 6 pounds worth in the next few weeks, let alone months.

Well my thinking was that I love footie but have never got into Pro Evo, always played Fifa in the past but now I have just bought a PS3 I would get some pratice in ready for PES7 and of course £6 delivered seemed a definate bargain.
