Re: Tomb Raider Anniversary

Mine arrived from GAME yesterday, stuck it in, and within about an hour I'd made it to the start of level 3. If you know how the puzzles worked first time around, and played Legend a lot, it doesn't seem like it'll be a very long game, but neither was Legend & I really enjoyed that

Re: Tomb Raider Anniversary

Just ordered this from VG+ as i have a U.S ps3 cost with shipping £19.05 ! not bad i think (uk version was around £17 cheapest)),downloaded it and had a little go of it on my old chipped ps2,the graphics looked really bad in SD with a scart connection, loads of jaggies and really grainy picture,i could have played it that way after having the ps3,nevermind the wires!
Is there a massive improvement with the ps3 upscaling the game ? am guessing there is and hopefully worth the cost....

Game should hopefully give me a break from Oblivion which i have been playing for ages now!(amazing) not alot on the ps3 left to play at the moment..........realeased on tuesday in the states so hopefully here by next weekend,

Re: Tomb Raider Anniversary

Anniversaray uses the Engine of Legend, so they are quite similar, graphically

However, I think this game is quite good, such as the scene from beginning, absolutely magnificent.

There is a bullet time dodge action this time, fairly stylish.

I just finish the fun time in Lara's Manor, typica puzzle nightmare :P

Hi,i take it youve upscaled the game on the ps3,and theres hardly no difference still....? if thats the case i'll be a little dissapointed but id still rather get an orig ntsc copy for the ps3 and not have to deal with the controller wires of the ps2, (even if i can play it for free!)
Hopefully i will see a difference in my setup and view point, from the time i played it on my ps2 via a scart connection the pic was pretty bad,my panel was am guessing trying to upscale a bit as there where an awful lot of jaggies, hopefully the ps3 upscaling via hdmi will improve it more... but if it doesnt not great loss at such a cheap price for a decent game ill live with it...thanks for your opinion on the matter.

Re: Tomb Raider Anniversary

I am a little disappointed because I have already cleared this after 3 evenings worth of play

It is however a good update of the original, and I would be pleased if they gave TR2 the same treatment as this is still my favourite.

If you have just beaten the T-Rex, then you haven't missed the guns.

Re: Tomb Raider Anniversary

interesting reads - seems good - not tried the game but the collectors edition with the bonus disc and bonus soundtrack is really good - the 45 minute retrospective documentary is quite good, and has the multiple real life lara's in there (for those who may be interested) and some interesting comments from the original creator of lara.

Re: Tomb Raider Anniversary

Does anyone else have the USA version and using a US PS3 to play it? I am displaying this on a Panasonic 42PV500 and am getting really bad overscan at the sides. Is there anything I can do to fix it?

Hi,Im playing ntsc version on a us ps3,displayed on a 42" samsung plasma, not real problems, not exactly sure of what you mean by overscan... does have slight black bars either side of the picture though which am guessing is normal with the game being played on a ps3, dont have progressive scan set on the game either which shrinks the pic even more (although i think its then a better picture if selected on,but prefer it larger with it off)

Re: Tomb Raider Anniversary

Just finished it yesterday, it is good.

However, there are some obvious bugs... For example, when I was fighting with two panthers who were behind the bars, but seconds later, one of them 'walk' through the bars and attacked me! :o

Similaly you can pick up an item behind the bars...by pressing triangle standing close to it. Of course in this case, it is good. :P

Re: Tomb Raider Anniversary

I am really enjoying this game (playing it on the PS3) but I hit a sad point today. I have just got to the trex and for the life in me could not beat it. I must have tried for about 5 hours over the weekend. Tonight I just couldnt be bothered to try again so got my 9 year old son to do the level, it took him about 3 minutes. I just could not get to grips with the dodge. Ah well at least I can carry on exploring.

Re: Tomb Raider Anniversary

I am having the exact same problem! I cannot for the life of me get past the t rex and I do class myself as quite a good player. I have tried for absolutely ages and I know fine well that the t rex has to smash into the spikes but that dodge time is doing my head in...and...there are absolutely no cheats for this game so I cannot get past the t rex and I have had to stop altogther playing this game. Has anyone out there any cheats that I could use to get past it? Or this game is just not gonna get played! I hope someone can help?

P.S I am playing this on a PS3, I dont know if it is poss, but can you transfer game saves between each other???

Re: Tomb Raider Anniversary

Well my lad told me you when the thing starts to charge keep your finger on L1 and then when the screen starts to blur its then when you do the dogde thing, remember to dodge the right way too. Just before he gets to you he will start to go to the left or right so you need to go the other way. My lad made it look so easy it was silly. Even then I struggled to do it but did manage a coulpe of dodges. On the save game thing I cant see why not. All you would need to do is copy the game file to a memory stick and the copy to PC and email it on. I have just finisihed the 1st county and now moved on. If you want to miss out a bit on the 1st country PM your email addy and then I will see if I can get you my save game file. I would try the dodge advise first though as I enjoyed the next few challenges.

Thanks for much for the gesture, but to be honest I will give it another try! I wrote that message after failing for the millionth time, so was not in the best of moods! LOL!...but...I am not completely rulling it out...you may hear from me yet.
Thanks again

Re: Tomb Raider Anniversary

^^^^^ Actually component prog scan on the PS2 with TR: A is rather poor: textures look smoother but it's ruined by large borders, it actually runs slower (<60Hz) and the 'artistic' bloom effect seems almost permanent. The same thing applied to Legend on the PS2.

The best way to play it is using the 'PAL' 60Hz option through RGB SCART or the same component cables. PAL 50Hz runs noticeably slower.

People have reported that TR: A through component/prog scan on the PS3 looks much better.

Got this game, can't be arsed to play it. Looks good though.

Don't know why I buy games and don't play it.

Probably will eventually, but I can't stop playing Katamari.
