Okami

Anyone else been playing this? Been playing for last few days and think its a really awesome adventure game. Actually enjoying this more than I did Zelda on the Wii. Good game to get for peeps who have still got a month to wait for the PS3 launch

Re: Okami

Is this game worth getting? It looks kinda cool. What games would you compare it to?

I mostly play Onimusha / God of War / ICO / Shadow of the Colussus - will I enjoy it?

Also, the cheapest I've found it for is around £19 from Foxy. Is Foxy reliable?

Re: Okami

I have just started playing Okami this week.

I cannot believe how much I am enjoying it. A stunning title.

Singh400, if you like those titles, I would highly recommend you have a go. Similar to those you have mentioned, crossing towards more RPG - I have only had a brief go on Zelda (ocarina of time), but it feels a bit similar. Lots of cool little distractions, some very cute and humorous touches.

Very impressed, well worth the money.

The girlfriend's had this for a while and keeps raving about it. It's the reason I'm trying to get a US PS3 and not a cheaper JAP one.

Lightbulb Re: Okami

It's my next PS2 purchase. I tried the demo and thought it was great, and a friend in the US highly recommended it.

Can't wait!

Singh400, I seem to remember we had a few matches in our PS2 list (re. b/c for PS3) so even though I haven't played Okami yet, I reckon it bodes well for you.

Re: Okami

I haven't started playing it yet (surprise surprise it;s still in its plastic wrapping), however judging by the videos and reviews it looks like this will be an epic adventure akin to the Zelda series. Can't wait to get stuck in!

Me too, it's in the plastic wrapping. Not sure when I will start it because I now have a PS3, and according to the b/c list, Okami is compatible with minor issues. Now, in Primal, those minor issues seem to be cosmetic - e.g. Jen looks like she is wearing a poorly textured dark coloured jumper under her red top, and Scree lacks definition anywhere except his hands.

I like to enjoy games for how beautiful they are, so I think I will still play Okami on PS2.

Curse the b/c list and its "minor issues"!

I'm annoyed that it's not fully supported by the PS3 either. Has anyone tried it who could tell us how it runs?

This is as bad as when the 360 came out and they got a slating for it too. Christ knows why Sony have messed around like this !

I could try it, but of course the only comparison I would have would be to the demo. Still, in Primal the "minor issue" was instantly noticeable, so perhaps the same would apply to Okami. If I remember, I'll try it tonight.

Yes, Ol!ver, for ages I checked all my PS2 games for compatibility with the US PS3, thinking the b/c would be the same. I was quite happy back then, until the EU b/c list was released! Maybe in time...

Exclamation Re: Okami

OK, I tried Okami in the PS3 and it seemed to play fine. The sound was a little jerky at the beginning but seemed to sort itself out. I didn't see anything that looked obviously like a graphical impediment. Having sat through the 20 minute opening sequence, I wasn't really looking forward to doing it all again on the PS2. But a faulty Game component cable solved that problem for me. Turned on the PS2 to see just flickering "AV3". I thought at first it was the switchbox I bought, but my xbox works fine via that. The Game component cable doesn't work plugged straight into the tv, so it's going back tomorrow.

Sorry I have no comparison comments, but like I say, I didn't see anything obvious on the PS3 that could be categorised as the "minor issue".

From other things I have read online, the US PS3 had an issue with the game which resulted in menus/in game dialogue subtitles being mirrored across the screen. I didn't see anything like that.

When I get a working comp cable from Game, or if I switch back to SCART, I'll let you know if the intro looks vastly different on PS2. Yes, even if it looks worse.

Edit: what am I talking about? One block on the BC list = noticeable issues, which is what Okami is meant to have. Primal has two blocks, minor issues.

So anyway, I definitely didn't see anything that seemed visually noticeable, which makes me wonder if the issue is in gameplay, menus etc. Saving, probably. :D

Re: Okami

Jeez this game should be renamed the neverending story. I'm 45 hours into it and still ain't completed it. Been playin it around a couple of hours a night for the last month or so. Think I'm just about to start the finale though, so not long to go. Also unlike Zelda I haven't had to use a walkthrough guide once, all the puzzles are nice and logical in this one

Thumbs up Re: Okami

MANGABOY, a US friend of mine completed the game, and said it was about 50 hours total. That's value for money, eh?

I like logical puzzles. I always feel so guilty when I have to use a walkthrough!

Sounds promising - keep us informed. I'd love to play this n the PS3 as the PS2 has been 'relegated' to the bedroom now!

Re: Okami

From what I've read the 1.5 update fixed a few problems with compatibility so I can only assume it hasn't been updated from that as I too couldn't see any obvious problems with playing the game.

It's on Play and Amazon for under £15 now. I'm sorely tempted to invest.

Re: Okami

As there have been a few "best games of 2007" threads/lists, i thought i'd dredge this up, as Okami really is a stunning game, and despite being on the PS2 ranks right up there for me for games in 2007.

What is it? Sort of Zelda in gameplay, but with fantastic art direction (semi-ink drawing) and excellent story - hoghly recommended if you didnt get it first time around!

Re: Okami

I got it but only played it for about 10 minutes before getting distracted. It didn't really strike me as all that special, although I've barely scratched the surface. I take it it's definitely worth me going back to it then? (Once I've finished Zelda, Shadow of the Colossus, Psychonauts, and all the other games I got last year and never completed. )

Just finished Okami (on my PS3) last weekend, took me almost 60 hours in total, what a fantastic game was hooked from start to finish.

Any PS3 specific issues on this game?

I've got it on the shelf waiting for when I finish either GoW2 or Resi Evil 4.

The classic PS2 titles offer unrivalled quality and value for money (typically 10 or 15 quid for a game). They're getting more time on my PS3 than actual PS3 games. Mind you, I never had a PS2 so the games are new to me.
