Wi-fi question

Sometimes I am out in Weatherspoons and I can get the internet fine. What I want to do is use either skype or go messenger.

Has anyone managed to do this as their security always logs me out. For the internet I log in through the web page.

I have tried to put the web page in the background whilst using these services but to no avail.
