Go!Explore PSP Sat Nav

Does anyone know when Sony are going launch Go!Explore. Should be early 2008 but I haven't seen any news releases.

Re: Go!Explore PSP Sat Nav

This will get moved to the PSP section so see you there. But yeah I've been really interested in this but can't find any release date and no sign of it on amazon.co.uk for pre-order so suspect it may be June or later. The sooner the better though.

Re: Go!Explore PSP Sat Nav

I hope they get this released rather soon

I have a PSP which i take everywhere but was also in the market for buying a sat Nav. Decided to wait when i heard about this as it combines best of both worlds.

I wonder if it connects to the net somehow for LIVE updates on traffic ect?

Priceing info http://www.computerandvideogames.com....php?id=178943

All I can find on the release date is spring 2008, I guess that means it could be anytime during the 2nd Quarter.

I didn't think the price was to bad, Co-pilot and like want nearly that much just for maps of the UK and over that for the UK and Europe.

The graphics look much better than the likes of TOM TOM/Co-Pilot etc.

Would be even better if the maps are upgradeable rather than buying complete new maps??? when you need to upgrade.

Interesting price £25.99, I'm guessing but this must be for the Antenna dongle with no maps, still if the date is true then it's not long to wait.

Someone has already tested out the Go Explore with UK/Ireland maps loaded.
Have a look at the review.

Re: Go!Explore PSP Sat Nav

As someone has said Amazon are selling it for £25.99, but the item has no description. Strange for something that is so near to release.

This link http://www.shopto.net/page.php?page=...0Explore&p=PSP

says £29.99 all in, but from Froogle "Play" suggests £109, but have no price listed on their website. I've signed up to be updated (from play) and will play it from there

Re: Go!Explore PSP Sat Nav

It's £27.99 on the HMV website where it clearly states that the UMD with UK and Ireland maps are included so that kind of pricepoint seems about right

Yeah, £109 as some sites are suggesting would be outrageous given all you're getting are the maps and the little plug-in GPS receiver. I think the sub-£30 pricing is accurate.

Re: Go!Explore PSP Sat Nav

I was going to get this until i read the article in the latest Playstation magazine which says it takes 15 minutes to boot up and get working properly with the satalites and then takes ages to load unless you move 1.2GB of data from the UMD to the memory card

I've read there will be separate discs for different countries. I've seen another European country version on Youtube. May have been German, I can't remember.

Damn! I didn't realise that. I've never owned or used a Sat Nav of any type before so don't know how long they normally take to synch with satellites. I pre-ordered from Amazon.co.uk ages ago for £25.99 so maybe it's worth it for that price, I don't know. I guess I'll find out when it arrives but I hope it's not a real pain to use.

Most Sat Nav Systems take around 2 mins when started from cold, warm start can be less than 10 secs. There is no point speculating until the product is officially launched and no doubt with all Sony products it will need updating before it can be used.

Re: Go!Explore PSP Sat Nav

Pre-ordered from HMV @ 27.99.

They can't seriously expect people to pay 100 quid for this can they. The receivers cost about 40 quid off Ebay from Hong Kong, and the software is OK but not as good as dedicated GPS stuff like TomTom.

If so, another case of Rip Off Britain I think!!

Tom Tom, Co-Pilot UK maps are around £70, the Sony unit also includes the antenna, I don't think the price is to bad, as for the maps from what I seen and they are by no means the finished article, they do look pretty good.

I'm with HMV, going to keep my order pending until if and when they cancel it. I don't understand the delay - I've downloaded the software for a look and it seems to work fine. And they are selling GPS Units on eBay already.

Hopefully eBay prices will fall in time, not too fussed about waiting as I have a perfectly good TomTom and only want the PSP one for navigation on foot

no way they gonna sell them for £99, probably done to deter anymore orders at this time, twenty odd pounds seems about right
