Hi all,

I decided to start a list of homebrew apps every user can try once the get cfw on their psp’s...

This is what I use at the moment, please add your favorite apps to the list

* LightMP3 2.0.0 Alpha 2 (Light audio player for PSP)
* PSP Filer 4.8 (PSP file management application)
* PSPTube version 20080216 (Lets you view .flv files directly from sites like “YouTube” or “DailyMotion”)

I also use some emus and the Custom Firmware Extender 2.2

You can find all these applications in pspslimhacks.com

Place the emulator in the PSP\GAME folder and access the emulator via the PSP menu under GAME>Memory Stick.

Re: PSP Homebrew Applications and Addons.

Emulators for PSP

Amiga
Arcade Machine Emulators
Atari 2600 Emulator
Atari 800/130XE/5200
Atari Lynx
Commodore 64 / C64
GBA PSP Emulator
MSX PSP Emulator
N64 Emulator
Sam Coupe
Sega CD / Mega CD
Sega Genesis
Sega Saturn
SNES Emulator

NOTE: Some of these emulators might not work with the PSP Slim!
I've tested the SNES, Genesis, and N64 emulators on my PSP Slim and all worked fine, the N64 emulator is a little bit slow.

Re: PSP Homebrew Applications and Addons.

I also use the Alternative VSHMenu by Red_Squirrel.

What's it?

It is an Alternative VSHMenu that has ALL same functions of the M33 VshMenu and other utilities such as the possibility to change the background color, to power off and to sleep the console, to activate and to disactivate M33 VshMenu from dashboard or to make screenshot of XMB.
Press HOME (by Default) in XMB to start the Alternative VshMenu.
Press CIRCLE (by Default) in Menù to close it.

You can download it from here.

NOTE: For this addon you will have to create a folder called SEPLUGINS on the root of your memorystick and place the addon in this folder, please check the readme file.

Think i'll be waiting until the prices drop (a lot!) before i think of getting a 16GB. Do want though!

I noticed on a few homebrew sites that theres some PSP IR stuff so you can control other hardware with the psp, tried installing one but all i got was corrupted data message

Will these work on a Phat PSP, or is it slim only? If you/anyone else uses these that is...

edit - Installed ALT VHS menu, pretty nifty being able to adjust cpu speed on the fly!

Re: PSP Homebrew Applications and Addons.

IR Stuff doesn’t work with the slim because the slim PSP hasn’t got the infra-red.
All these apps work with the fat/slim PSP. I’ve tested it on my nephew's PSP, basically he has on his fat PSP the same stuff I have on my slim.

PSPTube 20080301 Released

Quote:
Another update to PSPTube, this time SofiyaCat releases build 20080211. If your unaware, PSP Tube is a Homebrew PSP application that lets users watch Flash movies, Divx movies, YouTube movies from your PSP. The changelog is all in Japanese, but I’m told that this release is a bugfix release. No new features were added.

Place the extracted folder "LightMP3" in the PSP\GAME folder
put your MP3's in a \MUSIC folder on the root of the mem stick
Then in GAME on the xmb run LightMP3

That should be it

Re: PSP Homebrew Applications and Addons.

Hi All,

As Scotty said, all these homebrew apps need to be placed in the PSP\GAME folder to work and then in GAME on the xmb run the homebrew app.

Scottish Gear,

I can send you my version of the SNES emulator later today to see if the one i have works...

I'm definitely putting it in the right folder because Daedalus is running from there. If you could just point me in the direction of yours I would appreciate it, Would upgrading my firmware to 3.90 make any difference?

No you don't need to upgrade the firmware emulators work on all firmware from 1.5 to 3.9

Get your emulators here

In the download you’ll find a couple of folder make sure you only copy the snes9xTYL folder found in the 3.x folder to x:\PSP\GAME

Re: PSP Homebrew Applications and Addons.

Daedalus, the N64 emulator is terrible....the PSP just can't cope with the games being thrown at it. It has a dreadful compatibility with few games which run with any semblance of playability (i've never owned an N64 and played the classics, so these opinions may be a tad harsh and uncoloured by nostalgia).

Just to get you started take a look at CPS1PSP 2.31 for Capcom CPS-1 arcade games, CPS2PSP 2.31 for Capcom CPS-2 arcade games, MVSPSP 2.31 for SNK NeoGeo games and MAME4ALL PSP v4.9r2 HiRes. You may need to do a bit of reading to get these all working. I've experience of the Capcom arcade emulators and they require you to generate a cache file from an original ROM, as i believe does the NeoGeo emu, but with a little reading that's not too hard to set up. Mame i haven't tried...although i see a lot of problems with people using incorrect or incompatible ROM sets.

Re: PSP Homebrew Applications and Addons.

nobody mentioned RACE an Neo Geo pocket color emu that runs near perfect and with a complete rom set only takes around 50MB

Cps1 no cache files needed and ive read that the slim nolonger needs cache files for CPS2

vista/xp on the psp is a fun little try and for what space it takes is worth it just for the flash games.

N64 and Snes emulation can be pretty dissapointing

PSX blew me away and you end up with some good quality low sized games

Didn't mention it since it's a NeoGeo Pocket emulator. The slim no longer needs to have a cache for the smaller sized CPS2 ROM sets, although it never hurts to generate a cache for every game you try.
