Hi,
I am trying to put the latest "custom" firmware on my brothers PSP. as per tilte he is on 3.71. when I try to upgrade to 3.8 I get the message "this program can only be executed on a 3.80 M33, when I try to go direct to 3.9 it says 390.PBP does not exist! what am I doing wrong ?

imo stick to 3.71 M33 just yet, most stable & alot more going for it then all others, there also some bugs in later version's, get update 4 for it, that should run all you want, unless you want radio for your slim, even so there problems there.

how did you know it was a slim ??!!
just put update 4 on it , no problems, and if it runs all the games he will be happy!

I agree....

3.71 all the way...

Don't think its going to be worth upgrading until 4.00 at least, nothing to gain apart from gimmicks.
