Help PC says I need PSP Type A driver to install on my PC - Vista problem ?

Hi Just got my PSP which I bought from my mate. when I connect it via usb to my PC I get this message.

"windows need to install driver software for your psp type A"

I choose the option "locate and install driver software (recommended)

but it doesn't find the driver and my PSP wont connect. do I need a driver for my PSP or should it work with out one ??

any help is appreciated ! running on vista

i have the same problem as you but i'm running on windows xp professional is there anyone out there that can help?????????????
