What error do you actually get? Can you please be more specific with your problem.

If you do a search here there is alot of info regarding movies on your PSP, Think there is a step by step guide somewhere as well.

You need to create 2 folders on your PSP 1st. I will post later when I have more time(I'm at work at the moment)

I know how to put videos onto PSP using PSP Video 9, but I have no idea where to find software to rip dvds or even software to rip cds into MP3 format. Any suggestions?

Software

Look for DVD Decrypter or DVD Shrink, both free & easily found via Google.

Its worth it believe me !

All you need to get your DVDs onto your PSP is DVD Decrypter, PSP Video 9 and a large memory stick.

You use DVD Decrypter to rip the film from the DVD to a single .vob file, then you load the .vob file into PSP Video 9, select the settings and once done you will have a file ready to be transfered to the memory stick.

I would suggest upgrading to PSP Video 9 as when you start it up and connect your PSP it will create the folders you need automatically.

Found this brilliantly simple explanation for how to get dvds onto PSP mem sticks using dvd decrypter and Video 9. Is a step by step video guide.

When you get your mem stick you should format the card before doing anything else. This creates the neccesary photo/music etc files. However, for videos you need to create a folder specifically, (though don't put it in the PSP folder). Next to the PSP folder, create a new folder and title it 'MP_ROOT'. Inside this folder, create a 2nd folder and title that '100MNV01'. This is where you'll transfer your videos to.

It happens when the file you are trying to convert isnt supported like the newer .mov files, everytime I try to convert the Star Wars Episode 3 Quicktime trailer I get that 'Transcode Cancelled' message.

yeah some movie formats dont work so well with the image converter or video9 programs

try using pc based format converters to switch them to avi or mpeg first and then run them through PSPVideo9

my site has a few more alternativwes, although it is a little out of date now
