The handheld itself is sleek, presented very well. Its a lovely bit of tech, I am happy with that side of it. The problems start when you look at the available service for purchasing games.
First of all. Where are the games?!
I thought I would be seeing most of the PSP library available for purchase. My first download was the demo of Final Fantasy Dissidia, a game I was looking forward to trying. I enjoyed it. I thought hey now, I will buy this game. But guess what? It is not available on the store.
Next up, I wanted Final Fantasy Crisis Core. A main reason why Id opted to buy a PSP in the first place. It is not available in any way on the PSN store.
You can waste a good ammount of time on Lumines. Thats not available.
PES! Everybody likes some footy. Not available thanks to a reported pay-off from EA to have FIFA on the store. Great business.
Final Fantasy tactics, Jeanne D'Arc, PSone classics like Resident Evil, Legacy of Kain. So many good games missing.
And the biggest joke? They are all available on the US Store and have been for ages. So it becomes very agitating that you cannot run games from an alternative PS store without changing your PSP's license, therefor being locked out from playing games you purchased from the UK one.
My biggest mistake, spending £150 on the UK store right upon first charge of the PSP.
Sony UK in my opinion need to take their fingers out of their you know whats for us PSP-Go owners and put us on par with the US store. Microsoft have done very well on the digital download front for the Xbox 360 keeping everybody no matter the region on the same track.
The US store is blinding, a great selection of games. Almost 5x the choice that we have on our store. It leaves a real sour taste on my decision to buy a PSP-Go. An otherwise great device with really very good potential. |
The most efficient method to tackle this issue of a lack of games for the PSP is to fromally complain to Sony UK and push the issue in forums and in the techy media.
There is no rational explanation for their being only 20% of the selection of games available in the UK that are available in the USA.
Sony are undermining their reputation and the market they choose to be in by creating this anomally and only by users fromally complaining will they change this bizzare decision to restrict access to games in the UK market.
Trying to understand the logic of restriciting the selection of games in the UK is impossible and the only explanation is an error on behalf of Sony.
Petition the UK headquarters and push this issue in the media thereby forcing Sony to backtrack and make the same selection of games available in the UK as overseas.
