PSP Not Working Or Charging. Dead Battery?

Hi guys
Gave my son my psp to use for a few days. Got it back and he forgot the charger, PSP was playing fine until it ran out of battery power.
I didnt get the Charger off him for about a week after that and when i tried to play the psp it wouldnt work.
I left the charger in overnight but still it refused to charge the battery.
Does this sound like a dead battery or a dead PSP?
I cant seem to find any info on this subject.

Charger works fine as tested on my nephews, but his battery is different so i was unable to test that.

Just to clarify when i put the charger into the psp i get nothing, zip, nada, sod bugger all happening or lighting up.

Re: PSP Not Working Or Charging. Dead Battery?

Even if you remove the battery and switch on with only the charger plugged in??...

If you say the charger works fine on another PSP console it seems likely to be a hardware problem, not the battery though. The PSP hardware is fragmented so to make it easier to solve individual hardware problems.

Could be a blown fuse or the charging port is busted. If you have a pandora battery at hand try it. If it boots the PSP it's definitely a power problem, or probably just the power switch is broken. Finally try a charged battery on it as well.
If that doesn't work it could also be a motherboard related problem.

If you know how to take it apart and have a multimeter at hand. Try plugging the charger in and test any fuse (to see if any electricity is actually reaching the motherboard). If nothing is coming through, try testing the two pins which are on the motherboard coming from the power port. If you don't see any current on there that would mean a dead power port for 100%.

Btw I know about this because I do console repairs :P
