My PSP (5.00 M33-6) wont access the Store; it says I need to update the system software. When I go to online update it tells me there are no newer versions.

From what I can tell 5.00 M33-6 seems to be custom firmware or 'Homebrew' as it is known. Sony don't support Homebrew firmware so you won't be able to perform a network update to be able to use the store. You will need to do a factory reset back to the PSP's original official firmware - the manual explains how to do this - and then perform a network update to the latest version. However if you are using Homebrew software, this will not work on the official firmware; so you either need to decide if you want to keep your homebrew software or if you want to be able to use the PSP store to download games. As long as it's not a PSP Go and you have a UMD drive, you can still buy your games on UMD and get the best of both worlds so it's not the be all and end all so to speak.

If you update to the latest custom firmware (5.50 Gen-D) you can connect to the PSN store via mediago software and still use your homebrew.
