| Re: Download and transfer via PS3
no. Its probably the best way to do it, as you can keep a copy on the PS3 as a backup.
There are three ways to download
1) direct on PSP. Locks up your PSP, you can't do anything with it while its downloading. Can only download one game at a time (no background downloading). Its very slow. You probably need to be connected to the mains for a large game as its hammering the wifi all the time.
2) Through mediago on PC. Locks up your PSP - you need to be in USB mode and transfer at the same time as downloading. You can't download more than one game at a time. You can't download to the PC first, then transfer. Still very slow as it seems to download and then install, but slightly quicker than the PSP. It doesn't keep a copy of the game on the PC, so if you want an archive copy you need to manually transfer it back over USB (tricky as the folders are not named after the game)
3) PS3. You don't need the PSP connected while downloading, only when installing. You can queue up multiple downloads in the background just like other PSN games. You need to install the game on the PS3 before you can transfer it, so a few more steps involved which can get annoying. After installing it, you press triangle and 'copy' with your PSP in usb mode to transfer it across. It then asks you if you want to delete the original, so you can choose to leave it on the PS3 as a back up (useful if you only have a small memory card and swap games around). If you are downloading PSone games, you can also play them on the PS3.
Handy tip - if you're downloading a bunch of games, put them in the background download queue, then shut down the PS3 from the system menu. It'll give you an option to finish the downloads before shutting down. When it does this, it also installs the games, so that can save you quite a bit of time as the larger games can take a while to install.
