Thinking of trading in my old umds psp and wii for a psp go

Hey guys was wondering what the downfalls of trading in a wii and a psp 3000 towards a go are?

I like the look of it and not having to lug around games, but i will miss my films on umd

Also whats the good points to owning one?

Also if i trade in to game/gamestation if i trade in a wii and about 7 games like zelda smash bros etc and a psp 3000 with rockband unplugged (which i would buy off the psn store again) and a few umd's how much would i get????

Also do i have to buy before 10th oct to get my free copy of gt and is there any good bundles going at stores at the moment (not online)

Many thanks guys

Re: Thinking of trading in my old umds psp and wii for a psp go

One of the good points is if you keep your 3000 and update it 6.10 you can transfer your downloaded games and vids from the psp go to it. I have GT plus 3 other games on my 3000 which I've not had to buy. Result!!

Can't really help you with the UMD's but you could always recode your dvd's on to it instead. I personally would only trade in the wii as you can always use the 3000 for multiplayer games/ keep the kids quiet etc and keep the Go strictly for yourself.

Re: Thinking of trading in my old umds psp and wii for a psp go

Lol got no kids yet mate. But it would be good to keep them for film umd's

How much would i get for my wii with about 7 or 8 games including zelda, smash bros, mario kart with wheel, metroid and a few others which i cannot remember? Exchange prices at game or gamestation or a rough estimate? I dont mind putting an extra bit towards it tho and will i get my free 3 games and a copy of gt?

Many thanks

I would trade the lot in mate, Sony is set to launch their movie/Tv show service soon that will allow you buy or rent films straight to the device. You will also be able to watch them on you PS3 if you have one. Having a single device is the beauty of the Go.

UMD's as good as dead I reckon, flog em whilst you can.

I don't believe UK pricing has been announced but in the US for comparison TV shows to buy are $1.99. Movies rentals $2.99 - $5.99 (Both in SD & HD) Movies to buy appear to comparable to retail. The benefit being you can have these films on multiple devices.

Many DVDs/blu rays also come with digital downloads for portable devices. With sony planning on PSP specific versions that transfer straight onto a PS3/PSP on there future blu rays titles.

How much will you get? Ive never traded in a console so couldn't even give you a guess I'm afraid. take it all down and see what they say, if youre not happy just walk away.

Regards trade in prices check CeX : we buy and sell Games, DVDs, PC Hardware & Software, Phones and electronics online for an idea of what the items are worth.

As for the storage capacity of the PSP Go it has 16GB built in of which approximately 14GB are usable. It can all accept the M2 Micro Memory sticks up to 32GB in size. So you can in theory have up to around 45GB of space at any one time in the console.

And can you store music on it?

Are cex's prices around the same as what you would get in game/gamestation?

Yes you can store music on it.

Regards trade in prices CEX is not neccessarily the same as Game/Gamestation but their prices will give you a rough idea of what you will get. They often give a little bit more then GAME/Gamestaion. If you want more accurate information you're probably going to have to take your consoles and games into the stores so they can scan them and tell you how much they are worth.

If you have a gamesatation near the cex store then gamestation will price match the cex prices + Ł1, unless its changed recently.

Martin, you will need Media Go available from the PSN website. Once installed, connect your PSP Go and transfer anything saved on it (most likely games) to your PC. Once done disconnect and then connect your normal PSP (in my case 3000 running 6.10 ofw) and tranfer them onto your memory stick. Voila, your downloaded games on your memory stick. Make sure both of your PSP's are registered to the same PSN account though. PC only afaik.

Dude, sell your stuff on ebay (YouŽll get more than selling to Gamestation, etc) and then order from videogamesplus.com. YouŽll save loads importing the console.

Slightly off topic but by purchasing a US version will downloads(ie games, new films/tv arriving soon) still be compatible from the UK PSN store/account, won't tv and film releases be PAL so wont work with a US PSP Go, or with it being digital downloads does that not make a difference ?
Also will get a stung alot in customs etc, how much am I likely to save in total ?

I got a North American PSP Go from videogameplus.ca. It cost me Ł160 with shipping and no duty. I saved Ł40 over the cheapest UK price. There is no guarantee of avoiding duty but it's highly unlikely if you order from VG+ as they mark the value down.

Regards compatibility I can't confirm too much at the moment but digital download games have always been region free on Sony console and I doubt that has changed with the PSP Go. However the issue is you can only have one account on the PSP at a time unlike the PS3 so you can only play either all US or all UK games by the looks of it. The only way around it is by constantly deleting one account and logging into the other one.

When I downloaded the UK demos they worked fine. Then when I downloaded some US demos they had to be activated under a different account in order to transfer them to the PSP Go which disabled the activation on the UK demos. There may be a way around this but I'm not sure what it it. Whether this also applies to full games I don't know yet.

I can easily buy games of either the UK or US store as I have accounts on both on my PS3 so for me it's not a big deal.
