Re: anyone excited about the new psp go this friday

I like the look of it and the portability of the unit but the price is way off, It should be around the 100-120 mark I reckon.

Re: anyone excited about the new psp go this friday

NO - Sony messed up again - where is the touch screen/movement sensitivity? OK that would copy Apple/Ninty, and it would mean new games that use this tech would annoy current PSP owners, but its needed! Also the onboard memory is stingy. All the PSP does is let you play remakes of PS1/PS2 games, it adds NO originality, shame, as it has lots of power and a beautiful screen.

Sony could take share from the Ipod and DS, and support it with a massive back catalog of PS1/PS2 games, movies and music.

I dont use my current PSP much, I do use it to stream movies, I think I will wait for the PS3/PlayTV compatible Sony Ericsson.

Re: anyone excited about the new psp go this friday

Can't wait for mine, cost me under £150 in the end through various promotions and deals, add to that the 5 free games I'll have to stick on it

on the road in Asia for 3 - 4 months next year and only take the amount of luggage I can class as 'carry on' - A small handheld device packed with games, movies, music, somewhere to store all my photos AND all my guidebooks in PDF. format one one device, travellers dream.

took the original PSP on a years travel - many a broken UMD case good bye, good riddance!

EDIT : Oh and the ability to use Skype with my headset, can call the misses at home without expensive phone bills - Keep her sweet

If you get the time, would you mind giving us your first impressions - how does it compare to PSP 3000? Is it comfortable to use? Build quality, download speeds etc.

I am having a lot of trouble getting real user hands on info at the moment and am very curious as to what the impressions are...

I would put the price arguments to one side on the basis that there is some variation in prices offered and that through a combnination of deals in theory you can acquire the console and 4 free gamers (including Gran Turismo PSP) for free for under £200 which is not too bad imho.

NFS Shift was £8 more expensive than the disc version on the PSN store.

That's just robbery.

Re: anyone excited about the new psp go this friday

so got my new psp go - and it seems very nice indeed. Extremely light but not sure how it will play out under long periods - we'll see.

Quick question: anyone got the PSP Go Rewards thing working for the downloadable freebies? I do the registration on the GO and then the UMD download on my PSP-1000 but cannot get the Go Theme to come down as I cannot locate it. Do you know where it is?

I didn't really get the option to register the UMD and PSP 1000 I was on so was a bit surprised and think it might be going wrong. I am running a CFW so not sure if that is causing the issue. Any thoughts?

Re: anyone excited about the new psp go this friday

yup - that is exactly what it was!! CFW removed and now on 6.10 and all is fine. Although it does mean I need to put the CFW back on there....

Ho hum.

Andy - how long did it take to get your GT code?

Re: anyone excited about the new psp go this friday

I meant the CFW was on my old PSP 1000. For some reason it wouldn't allow me to do the thing I needed to to register a UMD for the PSP Go Rewards. As such - I needed to move to the OFW

Re: anyone excited about the new psp go this friday

Bit strange this. I don't want a PSP Go but I thought I'd pop down the shops to have a look see.

I went to Asda, Comet and Argos and none of the staff even new about a new PSP.

Can't see it selling to the average punter if it's not visible on point of sale.

Where have you guys bought yours from. High street or online?

Re: anyone excited about the new psp go this friday

Hi,
I had an email from videogames plus the other day about these. Have bought a lot of stuff from them over the years. They are selling them for £143. I could not believe the price of these when I saw them in town yesterday. £225 is a joke. As usual we in the UK are being right royally ripped off Save a few quid if you really want one and import.
Cheers, Rich

Andy - did you get any positive confirmation that you'd done the rewards scheme or the GT download theme right before you got the redeem codes?

That is good advice. I actually stumped up the UK price for one, but I do think it is way overpriced. To put it in perspective, this is £1 more than Amazon want for a 32Gb iPod Touch - a device with twice as much storage as the PSP and one that does everything except gaming better than Sony's machine.

So much for Apple being overpriced!
