8 and 16gb memory stick duo compatible with first gen psps

So i have a first gen PSP with 1.5 firmware. I have since been upgrading it via homebrew firmwares and it is now up to 5.5. My brother actually did that for me as I am a dumb twit when it comes to these things.

Anyways, I just wanted to know if I should go ahead and purchase the 8 or 16gb memory sticks for this.

Should I stick to the Sony or is Sandisk ok too?

Furthermore, does anyone know of the best prices for these sticks? There is just too much competition and lots of retailers to choose from. I only want to buy the benuine thing and I have heard that counterfeit memory sticks look and work just as well as the real ones so its hard to tell.

Some help would be much appreciated.

Re: 8 and 16gb memory stick duo compatible with first gen psps

I have a launch PSP and a PSP2000 and my 16GB card works in both.

I have a "Sony 16GB Memory Stick Pro Duo Mark 2" from play.com. I bought it almost exactly a year ago for £99, but you should be able to get one considerably cheaper now.

Just looked £55 now Play.com (UK) : Sony 16GB Mark 2 Memory Stick Pro Duo : Electronics - Free Delivery but I have had £50's worth of entertainment out of mine in a year

Re: 8 and 16gb memory stick duo compatible with first gen psps

I have just got a PSP 3000 for my birthday and have upgraded to Firmware 5.5

Have just ordered an 8GB Sony Pro Duo from Play.com for £25. Best price by far, in the shops they charge you the same price but for half the memory!!

Trafford Centre Sony store were trying to sell me a 4GB card for the same price and and 8GB one for £50!

From what I have read on the web, the Sony ones, especially the mark 2 are the only ones a PSP owner should get
