PSP Film Sound Level

Just loaded a load of films to memory stick and was all set to settle down and watch them - but the sound level is too low to hear them. Sound is great on games and music...yet films...a whisper at best unless I amplify with powered speakers.

Any thoughts?

Somewhere on the menu options when playing back a movie (depending on your firmware) there's an option to increase the volume +1 or +2, I think. From memory. But I can't remember which firmware brought this in.

Re: PSP Film Sound Level

Think the +1 and +2 settings are for UMD playback only, but I could be wrong. I'm running 4.2 on a PSP3000 and I can't find it on mine. Let me know if you remember where it is.

Depending on what software you've used to rip the films, some of them allow you to set the sensitivity before you record to boost the volume on playback.

However, assuming they were ok before you transferred them to your PSP, the trick is to use some good headphones with low impedence/high sensitivty to make the most of what little volume you've got. For example I have some excellent Shure earphones that are completely useless with the PSP but some old Sony ones that are acceptably loud.

Even better, though, if you use a bluetooth (A2DP) dongle and some bluetooh headphones - that way you get two lots of amplification... and no wires. It's a bit of a pain to remember to charge them up but the results are very good (and very loud).

I think the PSP Go (which I have no intention of getting) has the A2DP bluetooth profile to stream stereo built in.
