PSP Go £199.97

Not sure if this post is in the right place so Mods please move if necessary.

Just thought I'd let you all know that Tesco is doing PSP Go Pre Orders for £199.97.
I thought it relevant to post this information here as the PSP Go pricing seems to be causing a stir amongst the masses...

Furthermore it appears PSP game sharing is, & will continue to be, possible via PSN so the cost of games is considerably less if you can find trustworthy people to share your account details with.

Just might have to get one now - GT looks incredible for a hand held!

Re: PSP Go £199.97

Horribly expensive. What is the point of buying this one when you can buy PSP slim or 2000 for a lot less which do the same job?

Re: PSP Go £199.97

They don't have the 16GB built in, or are as compact? Personally, the Go is a given for me - i need something to play on the train for an hour or so every day and i love the idea of carrying around 5-6 games on the device without worrying about UMDs!

Price wise, Tesco's is definitely the cheapest i've seen - although i pay whole-sale price through my employer, so hoping it'll be a bit cheaper!

Re: PSP Go £199.97

I agree that it's slightly on the high side as i was expecting it to cost £180 but considering that it comes it GT PSP for free (and that will probably be a good £20) then it's not too bad of a deal

I'm buying one here in the US for $250 which today works out for £150 and by the time i buy GT PSP, it will cost about the same.

Not exactly fair to compare a portable console to a home console. As for the price it will come down but IMHO it will be later rather then sooner. If people are prepared to wait then fair enough.

Re: PSP Go £199.97

The main point is it will only cost with tax £150 to our Canadian cousins, which is unfair. I think the price of £200 plus is way too much, especially with the ps3 coming down to a reasonable price.

It could be considered unfair to compare it to a home console, but given a choice parents will buy the ps3 as it will be seen as better value. If compared to the DS and DSi range parents will look at price and games before going for the psp format.

I'll consider it when the price is down to £150.

Re: PSP Go £199.97

i was very tempted to get a go and sell my 3000 model, but considering sony plan on selling games on the store for the rrp, no way ill just keep my 3000 and get games brand new for less than rrp from shops and various online stores (and when finish with them trade them in and get money back off future games) and games second hand at less than half price on the psn store

same here. I don't expect to buy that many games for it, so DD is fine from the store, over wifi in the comfort of my own home instead of having to make that trip into town.

Ordered from play.com who have it on at £199 now - Tesco don't anymore. Its the same price as a PSP3000 with GT and big memory card (which I'd want anyway) so its an easy decision for me. I suppose the main problem is just the headline price.

Re: PSP Go £199.97

that'd be nice, although all of my existing UMDs are imports, so that probably won't work (sold the rest when I sold my PSP).

Maybe a good opportunity to pick up some cheap preowned UMDs to do that though.

Re: PSP Go £199.97

Had Tescos call me up today to let me know my PSP was being dispatch on the 2nd Oct, why that was worthy of a phone call I'm unsure.

BUT I did bring up that since I ordered the price had dropped and now have £30 voucher winging it's way to me!

So that, plus the 20% discount for preordering, £10 in Tescos vouchers off, £6 in quidco, comes out at well under £150, add to that the free Gran Turismo and 3 other games and I'm onto a bargain!

Also found Manhunt 2 on the PSN today for free (it's since been pulled)

Well happy with todays turn of events.
