Sound Shapes

I've just read the IGN review of this game and must admit it's got me intrigued. Saw a trailer for it a while ago but it didn't really register but if it's half as good as the review it sounds like a unique concept and something that could be really fun. For some reason it's also a game that feels like it should be a digital download

Anyone else looking forward to trying this?

Been waiting for this game for ages. I was a bit annoyed that SCEE saw fit to delay it by an extra week at the last minute but no matter. Roll on next Wednesday.

I really don't understand why people are getting excited about this game. I have read a couple of reviews and watched some videos on youtube. It looks very basic and quite boring - and the music is REALLY irritating, even on the video!
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad you guys are enjoying it and I'm happy that more games are coming out for the Vita. I just don't understand this one at all.

I haven't played it yet (will be downloading tonight when home) but the reviews I have read have all been very positive! Must admit that the trailer video for it from E3 did nothing to pique my interest but it firmly came onto my radar when the first reviews starting coming. And at less than £8 (as a Plus member) it's really a no-brainer.

Bought this on a whim having seen all the rave reviews coming out, even though underwhelmed by youtube vids etc and it`s actually very good. It`s crying out for a demo as it`s one of those games that somehow just feels "right", without anything specifically being exceptional in it`s componant parts. It`s a simple concept, a bit different, not as easy as it looks and has a playability factor about it. That and the replay value in the user generated content make it well worth the £7.99, although it`s very much a handheld game, you do get the PS3 version free, although can`t really see myself playing it much, it`s more of a quick pick up for 5 mins type thing for me.

Anyone been playing this? Have worked the the 5 album campaign and now trying the 'death tracks', some of which are silly difficult! With a trophy for each one though I still intend to give them a good blast. Haven't spent any time in the creation mode yet, not particularly musically creative, but have read theres some good creations by the community.

Well worth £7.99 this game.

I hope they release dlc albums. Loved the game it just flew so fast. Don't really enjoy the games after although have done a few. Full agree with your favourite albums.

This is a game that's always interested me but I've yet to take the plunge. It just looks interesting.

What type of game is it exactly?

Its basically a platforming game but set against a backing track that builds as you collect icons on the screen. Its quite old fashioned in you move from left to right across single screen sections of a level. Each level is an 'album' and has its own distinct musical style. Once all the albums are completed, which only takes 2-3 hours, more challenges open up, some of which are fiendishly difficult and hark back to some of the most spiteful Spectrum-era platformers. Its the interaction with the music and platforming that is unique to the game and with many games these days there's the almost obligatory create suite for user generated content which you can access online.

If you take it for what it is, a slightly different experience of a platformer that wont take you too long to finish the levels/ albums, then has plenty of challenges and online levels to dip in and out of, then its definitely worth a punt. Its a shame there isn't a small demo tbh (to my knowledge). Id certainly recommend it but haven't actually played it myself for a while. Its still taking up space on my memory card though just in case I fancy a challenge one day.
