Which chinese supplier do people use for projector bulbs?

Hi, I don't frequent this forum very often and I'm totally out of date with projector models etc. I've read that you can get projector lamps from china/hong kong for as low as £40 but I've had a look and most of the suppliers seem to have minimum quantities of 5. I'm looking for a cheap supplier who will sell single lamps.

Anyone got any suggestions. Is there a known good supplier to use?

I was thinking about chinese, hong kong companies who supply oem products cheap like "Projector Lamp Specialist" of hong kong. A company with displayed prices rather than having to negotiate.

There are a few companies advertising on eBay that sell bare bulbs from Hong Kong. I'm thinking of getting one for my BenQ PE8700

Re: Which chinese supplier do people use for projector bulbs?

There's a guy who sells them via the diyaudio forum, but when I enquired about a lamp for an Optoma HD65 it worked out cheaper to get one in the U.K. (probably not faster though - I ordered one 2 weeks ago and I'm still waiting ).

Re: Which chinese supplier do people use for projector bulbs?

I've seen these lamps on eBay from Hong Kong - not too sure about them and heard plenty of bad stuff about them blowing the electronics in the projector up cos' they're the wrong spec. The lamp manufacturers seem to have a lot on intellectual property rights to the lamps themselves so I doubt VERY much that they would be OEM. Penny wise and pound foolish?

Could be an expensive lesson... anyways:

I use eprojectorlamps.co.uk - their prices are decent and delivery has always been good. I see there is a new website online now which seems much better than the old one. Thankfully its much easier to find your lamp on the new site.

Re: Which chinese supplier do people use for projector bulbs?

I understand your point nelsoni but for a lot of us you either go cheap or you might as well replace the projector. Theres no way I'm going to consider paying £250 or more for a new lamp when a whole new projector can be had for £400 for a similar entry level projector. If you can get just the actual lamp cheap from hongkong for lets say £120-135 it gives you another choice. I've seen this seller on ebay.com

eBay Store - ping ngo shop: projector lamp

Seems pretty reasonable.

Obviously for high end projectors its a totally different decision.

The difference in pricing can be quite extreme from about £440 in the uk for a lamp assembly to about £120 for just a lamp itself from hong kong.

I mean if the lamp is duff you can claim back the money from paypal or your credit card.

It certainly makes sense for 800x600 resolution projectors or less.
