Why are 1080p so large?

Looking around it seems that 1080p projectors are significantly larger than 720p projectors, I was wondering what the reason for this is.

Re: Why are 1080p so large?

They're still mostly at the premium end of the market where fan noise and statement looks are important. 720p projectors are largely at the bargain end of the scale thesedays, there's little motivation for a manufacturer to spend money at this end of the market when they can tempt you with stylish and quiet (not to mention better performing by virtue of freedom in laying out the optical path) premium 1080p pjs where their margins are higher.
I suspect there's now a degree of crossover with the data pj market with 720p machines, and they're just noisy little square boxes from my experience.
