Is it my imagination or are we buying more LCD than DLP

JUst interested as there is a lot of talk aboyt JCV, Sanyo, Pannasonic on the forum at the moment

How does LCD compare to DLP. Once upon a time DLP was king and one of the reason was that DLP popped out the screen almost 3D like compared to LCD that was rather flat 2 dimesional

Is this still the case

Re: Is it my imagination or are we buying more LCD than DLP

I would say DLP is still the king as far as numbers sold in the sub £1k price as there is very little choice of lcd in that price bracket.

When moving up in price to around £2k it is probably more even as there are more lcd models available.

Over £2k there are less dlp units available so lcos/lcd may sell more.

Having said that I don't know the definate numbers sold it's only my perseption.

I think you would need to break the market down. I suspect high end is dominated by DLP, mid is probably DLP/LCOS and low end brings LCD back into the mix. I've no idea of total volume or market split.

A few years ago the large screen display market was dominated by plasma, but cheap LCD took the market from the bottom up.

Wonder if the same thing will happen in this market?

When led lamps come out in the next year or so they will dominate as no more worn out bulbs will need to be worried about.

Re: Is it my imagination or are we buying more LCD than DLP

I could be wrong but it appears people in UK are more prone to DLP rainbows.

I have not seen long threads on Infocus, Planar, Optoma Sharp in the mid range models. Strange...
