Optoma HD65: HDMI Issues

I have an Optoma HD65 that has been working well for quite some time. Today we decided to add digital cable into the mix and we're having a problem.

The digital cable box is hooking up with an HDMI cable. We have been using the cable and the HDMI port for our DVD player for months with no problems. The cable guy tested two different boxes and the projector is not detecting the signal from the box. He then took the box upstairs to our regular flat-screen and it worked just fine through the HDMI port. So it's not the box, it's not the HDMI cable and it's not the HDMI port on our projector.

What could it be??? Is there a setting that I'm missing?

HELP!!!

Re: Optoma HD65: HDMI Issues

Might be a handshake issue. Try a few things - switch on projector 1st then cable box (from standby and completely powered off) , try other way around cable then projector.

Do you have anything else connected to projector via svideo or component - if not check the projector settings - you can lock to hdmi only so the projector doesn't look for other inputs - may help.

If done of these help a firmware update would most likely resolve the issue - you would have to contact optoma - they take it away, update firmware and return - so you would be without it for a while.

Re: Optoma HD65: HDMI Issues

I had HDMI syncing problems with my HD65 but always got a picture albeit either pink or green. I am not familiar with digital cable and what set up options you have for the HDMI output. It may be worth connecting it to your flatscreen and seeing what it shows as the o/p resolution, you could then change the o/p from the cable box and re try it with the projector. I did find the my HD DVD would sync with the HD65 at 720P but not at 1080P. When did you buy the HD65 as the firmware issues were with early examples December 2007ish.
