New bulb or new projector

hi

just over a year ago i purchased a package deal from richer sounds, a hitachi pj-tx200 pj, projecta 1.8 m electric screen, incognito celing speakers, gale amp and sony av (the thing you put all the wires in)

i have all this in the bedroom, the thing is i have never been happy with the pj because of the noise of the fan, the pj is mounted on the celing at the foot of our bed and all the speakers are in front of it which may account for hearing the fan in the pj. i have about 10 feet from pj to screen.
the bulb has blown so im unsure what to do ie new bulb or new pj, if a new pj then being quite is a must and long bulb life would be great as the pj is used as a tv and i fall asleep with it on every night

a buget of a £1000 would be ok

many thanks for reading this

Re: New bulb or new projector

I went for a new PJ when the bulb on my AE500 blew, but didn't when the bulb on my AX100 went.

If noise is the issue, then for just over a grand you should be able to pick up a Mits HC5500, which is reportedly one of the quietest PJ's around (its pretty good all round as well, at least according to the reviews).

The only downside to getting a new projector is that there are always better ones just around the corner, and while getting a bulb might seem like throwing good money after bad, at least it stops you spending £1000 a year on a new projector.

Falling asleep in front of it is madness, though I have done it numerous times myself. I have got better at it, though, as each hour on these bulbs is precious and not to be wasted.
