re: Infocus x9 vs Optoma HD65

I had both side by side for a short time - The X9 was quieter but I could spot rainbows more easily - image seemed sharper than the 65 (but only because it was set at 24 out of the box) - Sent the X9 back after three days - The remote was a joke, the image brightness tailed off too much at one side and it gave a blank screen when fed 1080/24p from my HTPC (the 65 worked fine with the same feed and recognised it as 1080-24hz)

re: Infocus x9 vs Optoma HD65

The X9 is much better than my old HD70 (which I believe is better than the HD65) , the X9's optics are far superior giving a much sharper image. I did see slightly more rainbows when I first got it but the eye/brain adjusts and all is good now.

So a vote for the X9 here.

Adama - how are you outputting 24Hz from your HTPC? I didn't think it was possible even with powerstrip.

The latest nVidia drivers (181. onwards) and PowerDvd 7.3.4617 support 24p - There is a difference - but it's not the "be all and end all" that people say it is (King Kong fighting the T-rex'es is superior in 24p) to be honest, I stick to 720/60p, for easier Web browsing - I ordered the X9, having owned a 65 for 2 months for my brother, expecting it to be better (and I'd do a swap) but it wasn't - sorry - To my mind the HD 65 or 700x are unbeatable value for money at the moment

Not in my opinion. Got mine yesterday. It's mounted 2 feet above my head and it's was barely audible with the volume turned up a bit

HD65

I checked between the two myself - concluded that HD65 is more up my street. The X9 is a bit too bright and if you read through the X9 threads it seems a lot of people buy a additional filter to improve picture due to this, also to throw in my ten pence (soz pRot3us) reading up on few tech reviews sites one stated the HD65 had sharper image than X9

re: Infocus x9 vs Optoma HD65

interesting one this, i`m in the same boat.
im gonna be on a blackout blind infront of the curtains for now, so i think bright is better?? the ND filters are less than £20 tho, i`m swaying for the X9,
the rubbish remote and no buttons on the actual Pj is a concern but i`ll be using my harmony so that shouldnt be a problem.
pro`s and con`s for each and all the reviews are pretty good for both.

X9 is great with a high contrast grey screen, no need for a filter, superb picture. I have not seen the HD65

I use an X9 with and ND2 filter in eco mode and its trully brilliant for the money, compared it with the HD65 and it was a clear winner in my eyes. and in eco mode I will get longer lamp life!

HD65 - X9 has no trigger out to drop my electric screen, also HD65 seemed quieter to me.
Check throw distances for these v's your planned install.
