Glad I bought the Epson

Will be interesting to see your thoughts when you both get your replacements.

Epson EH-TW3200 projector

£996 here + carriage but if you say you saw it on the forum they usually waive the shipping.

There was a supplier on the continent somewhere selling for less (amazon.de) but I think PP are about the cheapest UK source and have a good reputation.

don't forget to factor in conversion charges by bank of 2.75% on top of whatever the euro rate is.

was that a dutch site? many charge quite a bit for shipping, but also charge for credit cards. they do accept bank transfer, but you have no protection if they go bust, don't deliver etc .....

I ordered from beamer-discount.de for 986euro's paid by credit card, now just waiting for stock. was told 2-3 wks

all this time is making me look at alternatives - seen the epson tw4400 going for around £1500 in holland! tempted to visit my cousins and pick up an epson on the way back

they have offered me a couple of alternatives if i cannot wait the new benq w1100 for 850 euro - showing as 999 euro on their site. cannot find any reviews anywhere but seen on benq website. no lens shift though
but works out at £755 ish. Not sure how this compares to the epson 3200 though but am getting tempted.

I am also confused

sorry about my wacko reply Such. I was really turned on the Lg" then all the crap
even when the exploding bulb sounds like a typical cold heat= crack. anyway going to have a look at the w1100 but as you say"no lens shift. I am sure the Epson3200 is good pj but I am not very excited getting one. I also have a feeling we pay a premium for the latest tech in a cheap chinese boxes with poor durability. not good if you are satisfied with what you have

prejector central have quite a favourable review on this model which is even better when you consider they were comparing it to more expensive machines than the epson 3600

Mine was sent back today, got a refund. Decided to buy a Sanyo Z2000 on the classifieds for £475 as the guy lives down the road. Probably not as good as the LG but because I've already got the Z5 and know how it performs in my room, I know I'll be happy with the improved resolution and better colour performance of Z2000 when compared with the Z5.
Leaves me with plenty of cash left over and I'll probably upgrade my screen material instead. Will still watch this thread with interest though, be sure to keep us posted helter.

I've taken a chance on this projector (last one in stock at Amazon) delivered today.
I was a bit worried about the DOA rate but I've run it for five hours and nothing has gone bang plus the lens shift dial works.
For the price (£899) I am very happy with the picture quality.

I did a quck run through with my Spyder II and HCFR in Cinema mode with no adjustments.

I then changed to Expert mode a did a quick greyscale calibration.

I need to play around with the gamma and iris options when I have more time but just doing the greyscale has improved the picture.

I've added some screen shots although I need to practice with my camera some more to do the projected image justice.

That looks excellent mate, especially if you say you have only done a quick set up, bet you are well happy.

You will have to give us some tips so we can all get calibrating our pj's, I have not got a clue where to start and your setting will be no good for me as I ahve the Epson.

Just shows what can be done with a few tweaks - out of the box colours are very poor which I witnessed myself but can obviously be corrected. The paris with love and the duchess pics look good, not sure why the kick ass one is only 56kb and the other is low resolution as well but overall it looks promising. Be sure to keep us informed.

Hi need advice .. I have just got my Lg af115 & after quickly testing it im not sure if i want to keep it.
first thing when i turned on thought yes its amazing nice color sharper than i thought it would be. this was with it hooked to ps3. then i went to sky tv standard def. and i was disappointed not with the detail but how it handled moving image i seemed to notice more in peoples faces and hand movements. i see it when people make small movements parts of their face will sometimes momentarily blur. and standard def. dvd looks worse than on my Optoma hd65. I really like how it shows HD. does anyone know how the Optoma hd20 would compares to to lg 115 in picture quality.

For standard def sky, best going into the menu and there are various resolution choices. Try them all to see what's best, some say auto is best as it automatically outputs native resolution and let's the pj upscale it?
Sometimes you could have the sky scaler doing a job, then you send signal to the amp and then it goes to work, then it goes to pj and gets scaled for the 3rd time - not ideal. You need to ensure it only gets scaled once, and trial an error should tell you which link in the chain does the best job.
