Anyone table mount?

Without major work there is no way I can get cables up to the celing without it looking very messy.

Anyone table mount there projector, I was thinking just whack it on a coffee table and sit behind it, anyone do this?

Want to know if it is overly noisey or distracting having the thing sitting in front of you?

I used to do exactly this! Wasn't that bad, not too distracting or noisy at all. I had it on a laptop stand to give some extra height.

Changed my projector though and that was a beast in comparison and was annoying to have in the way so I mounted it on the wall with a couple of microwave brackets (pics in the link in my sig)

Re: Anyone table mount?

Ah, a man after my own heart... HD1 sat on microwave brackets looks good Big_Si_Owen.

Like he said, a PJ on a coffee table is fine. It really depends on the PJ and the noise it gives out really. Most will work well in that scenario.

Mounting on the wall/ceiling doesn't have to be all that time consuming though, I use trunking that has been calk'ed to tidy all the edges, and painted the same colour as the walls, you really can't notice it unless your looking.. and even if you are, it looks quite tidy. Much better than cables tacked to the wall like I had years ago All I run to the PJ is a power cable and one HDMI lead... nice and easy

Re: Anyone table mount?

Im using my Marantz VP13S3 on a coffee table, not ideal, but gives a cracking picture. Try to use the PJ on the low or eco lamp setting, this uses a lower fan speed and should be queiter!

Re: Anyone table mount?

Table mount will work. I found a free standing projector stand that looked nice and sturdy and is adjustable up to seven feet.

It was $150 USD and can be seen at www.airdesks.com.

Well at 24dB high lamp and 19dB low lamp you won't find noise an issue. You'll barely hear 19dB. Check the throw ratio and the lens shift is sufficient and you should be fine.

Re: Anyone table mount?

Mine is sat on top of a 3 draw filing cabinet and works just fine.I sit about 2-3 ft from it and fan volume is not an issue.

Re: Anyone table mount?

Ditto. Table top is fine matey! Currently running my x9 16 feet from the wall with me in the middle. the only concern is remembering not to trip up on the cables when you leave the room!

Re: Anyone table mount?

Another option is to mount your PJ on the back wall, and use keystone.

This does not bring the PQ degredation that some imply it will.

See post #26 on Page 2:

Right, get your brains in gear - a projector problem (inc. discussion of keystone)

Re: Anyone table mount?

I have an Hitachi 300 and when I want it on I get it out of the cupboard and put it on a table right by me, @ <1 foot.

It doesn't distract from the viewing experience being so close and I can't hear it at all. (Unless I have the iris switched on when I can then hear the motor.)
