K Here Goes!

Hi

Completely new to forums and Projector jargon so forgive these embarrasing questions, but I need to ask em as I haven't got a clue

Right ok so I've decided to take the plunge and get a HD projector.

Optoma HD700X - DLP High Definition Home Cinema Projector - With HDMI from Amazon is the one I want and can afford.

Here's the big question. Regarding a ceiling mount for it once it's up up there will I have wires hanging down? lol I aim to plug in my 360, ps3 and sky digital and the thought of strangling myself on the wires that might hang down from the back of the projector doesn't sound fun or tidy.

So what's the secret? I've seen people online who have there's up top but no wires trailing about the place.

Would it be better to just stick the projector on a table next to my chair? if so does it have to be dead center on looking at the screen like infront of my feet? or can it be twizzled on a diagonal angle on the table. Surely that will not display the image correctly?

Thanks for any anwers to help my newbie self lol.

Moving house tomorrow so I wont respond till the internet is back. Cheers

Re: K Here Goes!

Ceiling mounts without visible wiring means the wires/cables run above the ceiling and dropped to the projector - otherwise you would have to run wires/cables across the ceiling and then down a wall or corner.

You don't mention room dimensions. Could you put the projector on a simple wall shelf?

The projector needs to be directly centered in front of the screen. Some projectors have vertical and horizontal lens shift - LCD types usually have better lens shift capability than DLP - the projector you are buying only have keystone Vertical - keystone is a digital type alignment correction and not desirable. For you budget you might be able to buy a Panasonic PT AE200 LCD.

Putting the PJ on a table directly in front of you not really a good solution but it would work.

I have found a free standing projector stand that looked pretty nice - $150 USD and can be seen at www.airdesks.com.

Hope it all works out.
