Sony HDMI v1.0 projector and v1.3 Receiver - HELP!

Morning all,

I'm posting this on behalf of my neighbour. There might be some gaps in information or knowledge of his 'system', but I think you will get the idea.

His Sony (I think HW10 - about 3 years old) projector has just come back from repair with Sony (busted warm-up capacitor or something). Previsously he had problems getting his Onkyo HDMI (1.3b) switching receiver to talk to this projector via HDMI (v1.0). He bought a DVDO (iscan?) device to sit in the middle that makes it possible for the projector to accept the signal from the receiver, presumably by bringing the HDMI signal down to v1.0 standards?

Now he says the projector is showing the same symptoms as before he had the DVDO device. The only thing that's changed is the projector going off for repair. Could Sony have done something to it?

Thanks for your patience.

Re: Sony HDMI v1.0 projector and v1.3 Receiver - HELP!

A lot of the Onkyo amps from 2 years ago have HDMI handshake issues, and just need a firmware update, which if being sent off, the amp should get. Thread here about it.

Thanks. This sounds like the right place to start.
