PT-AX200 - Getting all HDTV channels to display same dimensions

Hi all,

This is my first time posting, so apologies if this isn't in the proper thread. Thank you to everyone who's gone out of the way to contribute to this very helpful forum.

So, I just installed (clg mount) my new PT-AX200, and made my adjustments on an HD channel (TNT basketball game) to get the image to fit my screen fully (a Model C, 119"). Many HD channels display the same, and SD channels fill the screen properly as well (grey sidebars). However, with some HD channels (Fox, for instance), the image looks a bit smaller, and is shifted up and to the left. Never noticed this on my LCD TV.

Anyone have an explanation for this, and is there a setting to "force" all HD channels to display the same dimensions, in the same location? I'm not sure which channels I'll watch more, tho I guess I'd leave it as is since the SD channels look ok.

Thx for your help!

-Sam

It my have HD overscan turned off which might show up these imperfections in the outside edge.

Have a look through the extended menu (on my AE700 you hold down the OK button when highlighting OSD in the standard menu to see this - it may be different on the AX200).

Thx for your reply, um, Scumball I'll certainly monkey with the overscan tonight, but it's not so much imperfections, as it is the entire image is offset; it's pretty dramatic. It's like I have the lense shift set differently on different channels. I should probably take some pics and post them.

But about overscan, if I adjust it for one channel, will the image be cropped on the channels where the image filled up the screen? Thx!

yes, it's an overall setting and is on or off.

Re: PT-AX200 - Getting all HDTV channels to display same dimensions

I don't have the AX200, but I've got the AE3000 and there is an electronic vertical shift and horizontal shift in one menu (not the lens memory menu that I know the AX200 doesn't have). On the AE1000/2000/3000 this shift is 'remembered' for different input resolutions, so if different channels broadcast at 720/1080/576 then the shift could be different or at least controlled differently.

Otherwise maybe there is a setting in your cable box that effects this, in which case it might be posting in that section of the forums too.

Re: PT-AX200 - Getting all HDTV channels to display same dimensions

Hi guys,

Thx to both of you for your replies. It was, in fact, the horizontal/vertical shifts! I zeroed the out on the trouble channels and--presto-chage-o--everything lines up.
