Exclamation Hitachi PJ TX200 Faulty do I sell??

Hello Chaps. I bought this about 2 and a half years ago and its gone faulty.

Its got no green at all and the picture as you can imagine doesn't look at all good. Its got about 1200Hrs on the bulb and in immaculate condition as its been ceiling mounted for all this time. I purchased it from Discounttv and recieved a spare lamp with it which is still in its box. along with the projectors original box/bags/manuals/remote etc. Its as good as new but obviously faulty.

I'm thinking about putting the whole lot in the classifieds but how much do you think it should go up for. I know it may cost about £200 form hitachi to repair but I would know like to take the plunge and go for 1080p projector since its been all this time and the prices will have come down now.

Let me know of you advice please.

Thank you.
Simon

I have absolutely no idea as to what it may be worth, but I think that you would enhance its value by getting it repaired before attempting to sell it, otherwise you are effectively passing on the hassle of having it repaired to someone else, and that must detract from its potential value.

Those are my thoughts anyway, for what they're worth.

Cheers,

Martin.

Re: Hitachi PJ TX200 Faulty do I sell??

I've got a tx300 which is still working which I'm selling to my mate for £200, when I get my new pj. I can't imagine a tx200 which is knackered is going to be worth much at all to be honest.

You could ebay it.. but don't get your hopes up for mega money.

Fair enough, Should get something as the lamp is still working, remote is OK

The lamp itself would probably be worth more than the projector. You could sell the lamp separately on one of the auction sites and use that towards a new projector.

I personally would find out how much it'll cost to get it fixed and then make a decision. Although I doubt you'll manage to fix it and recover the cost of the repair if the projector is only worth £200 in working order.

Unless someone is looking for that particular projector for parts, it's unlikely that someone will take the chance on buying it especially if the repair cost is unknown. You could always get a quote and put on the auction how much the repair is.

I'm in a similar situation with my AE-700, starting to have the blue streaks on the screen and at 4900 hrs on the bulb. Don't want to install a new bulb as I'm looking to change the projector soon.

Best of luck with whatever you decide to do!

Si
