Getting sky HD to play on my pj?

Hi, wasn't sure which forum to post this on.

I have a Onkyo 875, sky HD, sony vpl hw10, all connections hdmi where they can be.

hdmi cable goes from sky HD to tv but sound goes to Onkyo from sky box to amp via optical digital as sky does not do sound over hdmi. Hence on the amp optical input is assigned 'cable/sat'.

Onkyo has hdmi output to pj

How do I get the pj to display sky HD? sky box only has one hdmi output, do I disconnect this from the tv and plug it into the amp? If so, I have already assigned optical output1 to cable/sat. Can I assign another input on the Onkyo to cable/sat??

Re: Getting sky HD to play on my pj?

You can select different inputs for both the sound and video of an input. So plug the hdmi input into the amp, and assign the relevant hdmi under the video menu...

Re: Getting sky HD to play on my pj?

Not sure what you're trying to do, but I have Sky HD and a LCD TV and a pj. What I currently have is 2x HDMI cables, one for the TV, one for the PJ and 1x optical cable going to my amp. My amp doesn't deal with any video as it only has 1x HDMI out so I just leave it out of the equation except for sound. When I want to watch Sky HD on the pj I just swap the cables at the back of the Sky receiver. If I wanted to do it properly I'd buy an HDMI Distribution Amp (or 'splitter') so that I can have 2x continuous HDMI signals from 1x Sky HD receiver. But they are expensive and it takes seconds to just swap the cable. It's easier to do this than to find a solution within the amplifier. More expensive and newer amps have 2x HDMI outputs which solves this, but I'm not going to spend 1,000s on a new amp just so I don't have to get of the sofa for a few seconds.

I may have misunderstood your question, but hope this helps.
