Upgrade from IN76 to what ?
Looking to upgrade my IN76 to either IN 80,81,82,83, which would you recommend ?
My screen is only 60" wide and the IN76 has been great for over 2 years viewing.
But like most of us on here, I now have upgrade-itis and am wondering if any of the above will enhance my viewing further.
Cost is not an issue as long as the extra ££££ can be justified in viewing pleasure.
I use the IN76 for sky hd/blu-ray/ps3
All comments and advice welcome.

Re: Upgrade from IN76 to what ?
I'm considered either daft or preachy by some for my enthusiasm about a few issues.
One enthusiasm that is easily proven by online research is that upgrades of displays and projectors should include the rapid emergence of 3D into both Commercial and Home Cinema venues.
The movie maker and Commercial Cinema owners have all bought into the idea that 3D will both draw people back to commercial screens and allow a hefty increase in ticket prices so throughout the US and UK commercial screens are being upgraded while consumer display and projector makers are putting "3D Ready" machines on store shelves.
Since you favor Infocus take a look at their first 3D model which is the Infocus DepthQ HD.
In email exchanges with executives at XpanD they assure that a number of makers already have or are planning 3D models for 2009 and that prices will drop accordingly.
The new 3D is NOT the cheesy effect of the 1950s.
So if you going to spend the cash for an upgrade I suggest you add 3D to the other specifications you seek as you compare makes and models and, if room will allow, consider a screen up-size to a 80inch wide model.
In the realm of Cinema in the Home size really does matter as you already know or you would be just watching the telly.
Good Luck and Happy New Year!!
EDITED to add suggestion that you research what Texas Instruments is headed toward re their new Pico chipset and Phlat technology that could have lampless projectors on consumer store shelves soon. Do some google searching of both Phlatlight and 3D compatible projectors.

3D is something I have also asked about. Up until I witnessed Journey to the centre of the Earth I had thought it was just lame technology. After that my mind was changed for good. 3D is not only realistic, it is very good and is much the same leap that colour was over Black and White. As you have mentioned, it is already on the marketing plans of all the major players with many already with products for the marketplace which are at average 'affordable' prices.

Re: Upgrade from IN76 to what ?
3d technology is not something I am familiar with.
I guess this technology will start hitting the shelves in 09?

It's already available in the UK for around 5K
InFocus DepthQ 3D Projectors from Inition - affordable, poartable, versatile quality HD 3D
soon to be followed by LCD displays that also can show 3D. It is rumoured that one of these displays without the need for glasses !!

Re: Upgrade from IN76 to what ?
ok, guys it's been a crazy few days and all my plans have now gone out of the window.
we upgraded our Pioneer 434HDE plasma to the new Pio 5090 and I have been completely blown away by the picture quality it now makes the IN76 look crappy.
what projector will give as good a pic as the 5090 from Pioneer if any ?
thanks for all the incoming advice

I have not seen the 5090 (I have been trying to avoid it, as i know i would want one), but from other feedback on the forum, you are probably looking along the lines of the jvc projectors, as they give good black levels. Note there is a Pioneer kuro branded projector, wha is a rebadged jvc hd100.
The sony sxrd projectors (esp vw80) may also be worth consideration as they have good black levels (but possibly not as good as the jvc) and good contrast ratios (albeit with a dynamic iris).
Have a search of the forums regarding projectors compared to Pioneers.;-)
Good luck

can someone give me a good reason why i shouldn't get the pio, or is there a better bang for my buck available elsewhere.
