Sanyo Z5 sometimes won't switch on

Hi,

My Sanyo Z5 intermittently switches itself off as soon as turn it on; the fans spin up and the door opens but then it closes again the lamp warning light starts to flash but it always seems to work the second time I try it.

After reading the manual everything points to the bulb but he's the kicker.... its only done 147 hours since new so I was wondering I am really unlucky or could there be another reason for it switching itself off straight away?

Any ideas welcome!

Thanks,

Re: Sanyo Z5 sometimes won't switch on

Ive only had mine turn off once by itself when i had it in a custom made unit which didnt allow enough air to circulate so I had to put it on a sliding base to clear the sides of the unit and it has been fine ever since.

Maybe an overheating problem.

Where is the z5 positioned?

Are you using an aftermarket remote?

Mine strugles to turn on via activities with the harmony 1000.

Re: Sanyo Z5 sometimes won't switch on

Hi mgzr,

I've got the projector ceiling mounted on 70cm pole so there's plenty of ventilation and I'm using the original remote.

Since my original post I took the projector down, cleaned the filters etc and put it back up and so far it hasn't done it again but to be fair I've only used it twice. I'll monitor it for now and post back with any updates.

Cheers,

Re: Sanyo Z5 sometimes won't switch on

Update:

Unfortunately my Z5 has done it again.

The error code I'm getting when it switches off is a flashing red power light and a flashing amber replace lamp light. According to the manual it means the lamp is on its way out. The weird thing is if I turn if off at the mains and switch it back on it usually fires up ok and I haven't noticed any problems with the brightness etc.

I'm going to give Ivojo a call later today for some suggestions so fingers crossed. If it does turn out to be the lamp after only 147 hours I think Sanyo will make it on to my bad brands list!

Cheers,
